The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is holding its International Road Check May 17th-19th. During those 72 hours, vehicle inspectors conduct inspections for commercial vehicles throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The International Road Check program raises awareness of the North American Standard Inspection program and keeps highways and roads safe. Drivers and carriers should be performing regular maintenance on their vehicles to ensure they’re operating responsibly and safely.

This is a great reminder that there are people in those trucks you see on the highway. Truck drivers often times go unnoticed for the sacrifices they make to keep stores full and the country moving. Next time you come across a driver in your daily life be sure to thank them for all they do.

James’s Story:

James joined the Accelerate program as the very first participant in December 2021. He was given the title of the Goodwill Accelerate program’s trail blazer and that is truly what he has done. He became forklift certified in December 2021 and started his CDL-A training program in January 2022.

James stated, “I really appreciate the staff at the Accelerate program. Everybody got to know me personally and helped me follow through with my goals.”

While James was in CDL-A Training, he interviewed at Meiborg Bros Inc for a Warehouse Spotter position. He immediately impressed them with his personality and work ethic and was offered a job on the spot to begin right after he received his CDL-A License.

Meiborg’s Warehouse Manager, Karissa Daugherty, states, “James is doing fantastic! He's been working with our spotter Tim all week. Tim and our team have nothing but great things to say about him.” Karissa says, “Our partnership with Goodwill's Accelerate program has allowed us the opportunity to train a high quality, driven employee as well as provided us an opportunity to give back to our community that we are blessed to be a part of.”
