Nik discovered that Make-A-Wish ages out at 18. Nik found a gap in support, we aim to fill it

Inspired by Nik in 2012, our 501(c)(3) charity provides precious moments of joy - "Nik Wishes" - for young adults ages 18-24 and their families fighting cancer. Inspired by Nikolas Ritschel’s journey with synovial sarcoma, our mission is to provide opportunities to enrich the lives, stimulate encouragement, and strengthen the faith of adolescent & young adult cancer patients and their loved ones.

School may be out for summer, but we’re still giving an A+ for generosity to Rockford Christian School 5th graders for raising $135 to help delivery joy to a young adult battling cancer! ❤️

What an incredible day at Golf for JOY Wisconsin! ⛳️💙

Because of the amazing support of our community, we raised enough to grant TWO wishes!! 🎉

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this event possible—from the dedicated planners who worked behind the scenes for months, to the volunteers and Nik's Wish team members who brought the magic to life on event day. And of course, thank you to our golfers, sponsors, donors, and generous supporters whose participation and contributions made such a meaningful impact.

Together, you turned a day on the golf course into unforgettable memories and hope for two deserving families.

Ready to tee it up again? Golf for JOY Illinois is happening June 20th! ⛳️ Learn more here: https://nikolasritschelfoundation.org/annual-events/

We shared Katie's Wish Reveal video with you, but these perfectly-captured videos deserved a permanent spot on the feed too! 🎉

When Katie began her senior year at Shenandoah University, life was falling perfectly into place. A full-scholarship student in the Fine Arts Conservatory, she had just moved into her first apartment with her best friends and was preparing to complete her senior capstone projects in lighting design.

Just five days into the semester, everything changed.

After experiencing severe arm pain, Katie was rushed to the ER where bloodwork revealed a devastating diagnosis: leukemia. More than 80% of her blood was filled with leukemic cells, and what followed was a fight for her life.

Katie never got to live in that apartment. She had to step away from school, leave her friends behind, and focus entirely on treatment. When local options ran out, she and her mom made the journey to MD Anderson, where they have spent the past year navigating treatments, challenges, and uncertainty together.

Through it all, Katie refused to give up on her dreams. She completed her senior capstone projects remotely, designing the lighting for two live main-stage productions while continuing her battle against cancer.

But now? JOY has been delivered! Katie and her family will be heading to Los Angeles for a behind-the-scenes tour of DROPOUT Studios, home to some of her favorite comedy content. After everything she has endured, this trip will provide a chance to laugh, make memories, and focus on something other than hospitals and treatments.

Katie, we can't wait to see the joy this experience brings you. ❤️

KAMRYN’S WISH IS GRANTED 🌺✈️

Before cancer, Kamryn was always on the move — balancing full-time work, full-time graduate school, football games, concerts, travel, and making memories with the people she loves most. After a year of searching for answers, she was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma in August 2025.

Through chemotherapy, surgery, and the emotional weight that comes with a cancer diagnosis, Kamryn kept pushing forward. She continued working, stayed in school, and is still on track to graduate with her master’s degree in Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis in 2026. 💪

But even the strongest fighters deserve a chance to breathe...and that is where Nik's Wish came in!

Kamryn chose Hawaii because she loves the outdoors, the water, nature, and adventure — but even more, she wanted a chance for her and her family to truly relax and enjoy time together after everything they’ve endured.

And now… that dream is becoming reality. 🌊☀️

Because of supporters like YOU, we get to deliver moments of joy, peace, and unforgettable memories to young adults fighting cancer.

Help us continue granting wishes just like Kamryn’s by signing up for upcoming events like Golf for JOY Illinois or visiting www.nikswish.org 💙
