We were out taking photos for social media today when Miss Hazel gently reminded me to stop and smell the flowers.

A good reminder, really.

In the midst of busy schedules, to-do lists, and trying to capture the moment, sometimes the moment itself is waiting quietly for our attention.

These beautiful blooms, lovingly grown by Janelle, were worth slowing down for.

Thank you, Hazel, for the reminder. 🌸💜

The recent losses within Minnesota's first responder community are a heartbreaking reminder that those who spend their lives helping others often struggle in silence.

Our hearts are especially with the families, friends, and fellow first responders now navigating the complex journey of su***de loss.

Postvention is prevention. Supporting survivors after a su***de is a critical part of reducing isolation, fostering connection, and preventing future loss.

Today, we also recognize the courage of those who attend our Survivors of Su***de Loss Support Group and others carrying this grief.

Your stories matter, and you do not have to walk this path alone. 🤍

Thank you, Rochester Women Magazine, for featuring Community Grief Support in your Women's Business & Resource Directory.

We are honored to be recognized and grateful for the opportunity to share our mission of ensuring that no one has to navigate grief alone.

Thank you for helping raise awareness about the importance of connection, compassion, and community support. 🤍

Some wounds are invisible, yet they change everything. Community Grief Support is doing the kind of work that cannot always be measured in numbers because healing, presence, and human connection rarely can be. In moments when people feel isolated by loss, they are helping remind this community that compassion still exists, that people still care, and that nobody should have to navigate grief alone.

How to Carry What Can't Be Fixed by Megan Devine is a compassionate and honest journaling guide. ✍️

Megan Devine’s work reminds us that some experiences are not meant to be “fixed.” Instead, we learn to carry them with tenderness, truth, support, and self-compassion. 🤍

We will be using this book in our upcoming offering, Where Grief Meets the Page: a space for reflection, creativity, connection, and honoring our stories through writing and expression. ✨

If you would like to look through the book, stop by during Wednesday office hours. You can also support our lending library and programming by visiting our Amazon wishlist to purchase a copy. 📖

This morning, Cup of Comfort gathered, bringing together people from different walks of life who share a common experience—the many losses and transitions that come with being human.

Stories were shared. Laughter was heard. New connections were made. And for a little while, no one had to carry their grief alone.

A special thank you to Forte of Rochester for generously providing the space and supporting opportunities for meaningful connection. And thank you to Hy-Vee for the delicious sweet treats that added a little extra comfort to the morning. 🍩

These gatherings remind us that healing doesn't always happen in grand moments. Sometimes it begins over coffee, conversation, and the simple realization that others understand.

"Our capacity to give and receive love is what ultimately defines us. Nothing we have "accomplished" in our lifetimes matters as much as the way we have loved one another.
Love is the very anchor, substance, and essence of life.” {Alan Wolfelt}

At the close of each group, we end with a shared reading.

One line at a time. One voice after another.

There is something powerful about hearing each person speak a single line into the circle, knowing we are holding space for one another in the tender, complicated, courageous work of grief.

Different stories. Different losses. Shared humanity.

Sometimes the reading says what we cannot yet find words for ourselves. Sometimes it simply reminds us that we are not alone.

Today’s reading follows.

Grief One Day at a Time by Alan D. Wolfelt is a gentle companion for anyone navigating loss one day, one breath, one moment at a time.

Today’s reflection for May 26 reminds us:

“Grief is first and foremost a spiritual journey.”

Dr. Wolfelt beautifully reminds us that grief touches every part of our lives, but especially our souls. Our love lives there. And because of that, our grief lives there too. 🤍

In a world that often encourages people to hide pain or rush healing, this reading invites us into something different: honesty, vulnerability, and authenticity. When we allow ourselves to show up genuinely in our grief, we often discover not only tenderness, but strength.

If today feels stormy, may this be your reminder that you do not have to navigate it alone. 🤍
