Shepard's Barbershop has been around officially since 1951 but its owner, "P*e Wee" has been cutting hair in Rochester and the surrounding areas since the 40's.

After 8 months of starts and stops... back and forth... I had to make an emotional but necessary decision. Shepard's Barbershop at 251 N. Clinton Ave., is officially closed.

Papa moved to that location way back in 1968. I have a lot of good memories of guys playing checkers, me shining shoes next door at 248 while card games went on in the back; People calling me "Lil' P*eWee". What stands out most of all is I watched Papa serve a diverse community that included people of different races, backgrounds, religions, s*x and s*xual orientation and while he may have disagreed with some things he treated everyone with the level of respect he wanted for himself and his family. I learned all of this at the Barbershop. I will miss 251 N. Clinton Ave.

I thank God for the legacy that has been passed on to me by my dad (P*e Wee). As I carry the torch now, I can only hope to be able to continue as dad did and one day pass it on to my children.

Painting for the most part is done... Now to get the new drop ceiling and track lighting. New phone and internet get installed on Friday and for those that remember the old phone number... We got it back... God is good!!!
