The Mayfly Project is a 501(c)(3) national organization that uses fly fishing as a catalyst to mentor and support children in foster care. The Mission of The Mayfly Project is to support children in foster care through fly fishing and introduce them to their local water ecosystems, with a hope that connecting them to a rewarding hobby will provide an opportunity for foster children to have fun, build confidence, and develop a meaningful connection with the outdoors.

Just over 3 months away to Spey Nation 2026 - August 7th to 9th. This year there will be more exhibitors, more equipment to try, Bruce Kruk, informative presentations, raffles supporting The Mayfly Project, free lunch sponsored by Douglaston Salmon Run and more! Also, there are still openings for our Friday 8/7 school and classes and Sunday 8/9 classes.

One week until Giving Tuesday! There are a lot of amazing organizations out there, but let us share a little about us:
- We have been active for 3 years
- We have 20 dedicated mentors
- We have served 13 foster children in our first two years. Our goal is to mentor 8-10 more in our third year
- $780 per child will fully fund their participation in the program. This comes solely from donations
- Each child attends 5 outings which teach about the sport of fly fishing, local waters, and conservation. Mentors support and help build the confidence of participants while giving them a space place to foster healthy relationships
- After the 5 outings, each child receives a complete set of fly fishing gear to continue exploring the sport of fly fishing
