🎉 Happy Juneteenth from IE Autism Awareness 💛❤️💚🖤
Today, we honor Juneteenth, a holiday that commemorates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved African Americans in Texas were finally informed of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had legally ended slavery.
The name “Juneteenth” is a combination of June and nineteenth, marking this historic day of liberation, resilience, and hope. In 2021, Juneteenth became a federal holiday in the United States.
At IE Autism Awareness, Juneteenth reminds us that progress often comes when people are seen, heard, and valued for who they are.
Just as Juneteenth represents the ongoing journey toward equality and inclusion, the autism community continues to advocate for a world where autistic individuals are accepted, understood, and given equal opportunities to thrive. Freedom is more than the absence of barriers it is the presence of belonging, dignity, and respect.
Today we celebrate:
✨ Freedom
✨ Diversity
✨ Inclusion
✨ Community
✨ The unique strengths and voices of every individual
Happy Juneteenth! Let us continue building a future where everyone has the opportunity to be their authentic selves.

💧 Ever notice how many autistic children are drawn to water?
It’s not because of “broken mirror neurons” or a simple preference. For many autistic individuals, water provides a powerful sensory experience that can feel calming, predictable, and regulating.
The movement of water, the sound, the pressure on the body, and the visual patterns can help reduce sensory overload and create a sense of comfort.
That’s one reason aquatic therapy has gained attention in autism research. Studies have found that structured water-based activities may support social engagement, motor development, physical fitness, and overall well-being.
Every autistic person is different, but for many, water isn’t just play it’s a sensory environment where they can feel regulated, focused, and at ease. 💙🌊

Raising a child with autism can feel overwhelming at times — but families in California should know there are resources, services, and communities ready to support them every step of the way 💙🧩
From therapy services and respite care to financial assistance and insurance support, these programs can make a huge difference for both children and caregivers. Too many families don’t realize what they may qualify for, so sharing this information matters. 🚀
You are not alone in this journey — and you shouldn’t have to navigate it without support. 💛
