Hey kids, want some outside entertainment? Talk to fourth grader, Vitiana Ronstadt. She has fun in the garden by finding roly-poly bugs and creating “moss islands.” And it started because of a YouTube video where she learned about native plants and their importance to bees.

Once Vitiana heard that our bees need native plants, she told her parents they needed native plants. I talked to Vitiana about her one-year- old habitat garden. She showed me “Bob,” the Japanese Maple, a tree that was part of the garden before the family’s small patch of lawn was replanted with 13 different kinds of native plants. “We liked Bob, so we kept him,” she said.

Gina DeNoble was born to be a musician. Some of her earliest and fondest memories are watching her mother play guitar and sing folk songs in the late 80s and 90s. As a child, Gina would often sit directly in her mother’s open guitar case while she played. You might say she needed to be part of the music, even from a young age.

At 5 years old, Gina began singing, and by 11, she was involved in community musical theater productions. She continued with theater and choir throughout middle and high school, where she made several close friends who pushed her to develop an interest in songwriting.

Then in 2001, she was voted onto Seattle radio station 107.7
The End’s reality show “Making an End Band”. The show involved co-writing three original songs with a newly formed band, and surviving several crazy “challenges” that were broadcast live on the radio. Gina’s band ultimately completed the challenges, and as a reward, were able to open for several nationally touring artists at 107.7 The End’s 2001 Board This Concert. This amazing opportunity at only 16 catapulted Gina forward into her music career. She released her first album of
original songs, Wanderer’s Paradise, in 2007. Her songs have been described as “lyric-driven soulful folk songs that tell
stories of love, travel, heartbreak, and self-reflection.
