In April 2023 we set to work getting a wrap on the Infiniti Yachts 52: Zeus. It had been pre-spec'd by the builder for a chrome finish Hexis electric blue vinyl. Very difficult vinyl to deal with. Non-conforming, poor heat tolerance. Got it on, of course, bumps on the way, but I lost my bet on this boat. Some day, I'll tell you what it was.

Artemis is a BotÍn 65 formally known as Caro brought over to the States early in 2020. We were commissioned to provide the name and hailing port graphics which would be done in a custom color based on the HD Awlgrip used for the new topsides paint. Empress Blue was the choice for the topsides and after some hours in the ‘lab’ we formulated a tint up of the Empress Blue to a pale blue – with many thanks to Oscar the paint wizard at KKMI Richmond. Masking was done on Orafol transparent inkable vinyl which made alignment a snap. She’ll be on the start line for Transpac on July 17th and we wish her a speedy and fun trip to Honolulu.

Been a while since we posted. A very hectic year! but fruitful. Will try to get caught up on postings now. This project is from January 2020. While measuring another boat in the yard I was approached by someone curious if I was the RBG lady..! He was restoring a Luders 36 and it was about to go into paint - My favorite color which I nicknamed 'Caribbean Teal'. He pulled out a piece of paper and sketched out what he was looking for. Boat would be named Sisko - a variant on the name, but with a back drop of the GG bridge - you get the gist.

When I saw his sketch I immediately conjured up 1950's era travel postcards. Big slab serifs - lot's of perspective slants in the lettering. Turns out the client draws and paints vintage travel posters - and he sent along photos of a few. I knew we were on the right track.

There's a very distinct glow the GG bridge gets during sunset mid-summer. The lingering sunset lends a bronze hue and the industrial orange (actual name of the paint on the bridge) really glows. So that would be the backdrop behind the lettering rendered in a color gradation to include the hull color with gold discs layered in back for a shadow.
