And the kids favorite of the week. Rappelling.

Started day 5, the final day, doing some confined space rescue.

Some more day 4. I think we found some mermaids at the pool.

Afternoon day 4. The kids got to get wet. They learned about RFD water rescue team and do some of what they do.

Day 4. Hazmat day. Thought we were going to loose some in the classroom portion, but they all done great when it came to putting it all together.

Afternoon of day 3 was spent learning some EMS skills. CPR, longback board and spinal immobilization, KED, Vitala and splinting and bandaging. Finished off with patient removal from a vehicle.

After visiting the ED we headed to RFD training ground for a visitor from above. Thanks to Med Flight 8 for the visit.

Day 3 at JFA. It has been a great start to the week so far. Halfway done with lots more to do. Today was EMS day and we started early at Reid Health in the Emergency Department. This was planned and no child had been hurt. Thanks to Dr. Emily Kraft for a great experience. We had a tour of the ED, learned about patient assessment. But the best parts were getting to use the glide-scope to intubate, learning to staple and do sutures.

After enduring the heat most of the day we headed back to Station 1 for a little team building.

We got to spend the afternoon cutting up a few vehicles. A big thanks to J Street Auto for setting up and allowing us to test our skills. Also got to end the afternoon in the sun with a dilly bar thanks to J Street Auto.

And the reward for the day. Managing to move a soda from one cone to the other using the cutters. We had a couple cans that happened to spring a leak. All were rewarded with a soda for lunch.

Challenge of the day! Attempting to move an egg from one cone to another using the spreaders without cracking it. We had enough eggs cracked to make a couple omelettes.

We also worked with the airbags lifting a concrete and steel platform.

Day two of JFA 19’. We worked with Rescue A Trick, Engine 4 on the jobs that part of Rescue Company. Started of with victim search and removal.

Afternoon fun at RFD Training Ground. Learning hose management, fire attack, roof ventilation and the fun stuff that follows. Hose loading.

First day of JFA. Learning the ins and outs of SCBA.

First day of JFA 19. It was a little warm but the kids did great and managed it well. Started the week off with learning to tie their own harness and aerial climb.

It’s not to late to sign up.
