Which nails should not be covered with gel?

1. Overfiled damaged nails. Such nails should be given a break from coating for 1-2 months. Unfortunately, the cellular and chemical composition of the nail is such that a good adhesion with artificial material is only possible with its upper layers. These layers contain dense cells and very little water and oils, allowing for proper nail preparation for coating. The deeper we "pe*****te into the nail," the less dense cells we see, but there is an increase in water and oils. These factors will hinder us from wearing the coating for an extended period happily. It will become even more damaged, and eventually, the nails will resemble rags.

2. Onycholysis. Onycholysis, the separation of the nail from the nail bed, is relatively rare on the hands. It is usually the result of thermal or chemical burns, mechanical damage, or injury. It is strictly prohibited for nail technicians to cover such nails because they are only allowed to work with a healthy nail plate.

3. Fungus. Nails showing signs of fungal infection must not be covered with any decorative coatings. Such nails require immediate treatment, and delaying can jeopardize your health. If you notice changes in the color and texture of your nails (they have become yellow, there is loose, thread-like substance under the nail, resembling sawdust, or your nails have simply changed color unusually), please consult a dermatologist promptly.

4. Splitting Nails. Yes, you can remove the length and thoroughly file the nail, but such filing will only weaken it, and micro separations will still remain. In the future, these separations will pull the material along with them, which means that such a coating will not be long-lasting. The cause of splitting nails is often related to the use of household chemicals and soap, which can dry out both the skin and the nails.

Hard Gel VS Acrylics

Today we’d like to talk about Hard gel (liquid builder gel) and give you 3 reasons why do we prefer to work with Hard gel instead of Acrylics.

1. Hard gel is hypoallergenic, meaning it is less likely than acrylic to trigger allergies than acrylic. There’s a scientific reason for this: hard gel uses oligomers instead of polymers
2. Hard gel enhancements are super shiny, and unlike acrylic, which tends to yellow with time, the top coat never discolors.
3. Hard gel is actually not as hard as acrylic. However, it is more flexible and stronger than acrylic. Hard gel is a lot better at being able to withstand relatively high pressure, meaning it is less likely to break or crack than acrylic. Because of its flexibility, it is also more resistant to lifting.
