Good morning UCP. A beautiful day we have been blessed with.
I invite my friends and family at United Christian Parish to enjoy this special Pentecost Offering in Song by the College of Regional Ministers (including yours truly). May the reconciling power and love of the Holy Spirit renew each of us, our congregations, our nation and world! Blessed Pentecost!
SCAM ALERT! Warning to UCP members! This morning I got an email supposedly from Marilyn Silvey, who is out of town. The person asked me to buy $400 worth of Itunes Gift Cards for her relative who's having a birthday, then scratch off the silver strip and give "Marilyn" the numbers. "Marilyn" would supposedly pay me back the $400 once she got back in town. This is a SCAM! Please be careful if you get an email from [email protected].
He has risen
Happy Easter to you all!
I may be a retired vampire, but some things never die. I hope others remember there's a huge shortage. 4,000 blood drives nationally were canceled this week. There are places you can donate if you are healthy. We are all in this together! www.inovablood.org
Please consider supporting United Christian Parish Preschool by dining out at Glory Days tonight! Simply dine-in or carry-out at any Glory Days location, save your itemized receipt (not credit card receipt) and submit it to the church office attn: preschool fundraiser.
10% of the sales we generate will be contributed to the preschool’s scholarship fund. You’ll be cooking enough next week—take tonight off! See you there! 🍔🥗🍕
Thank you to everyone who welcomed me this morning! What an amazing community you have built!
Blessed beauty of nature!
The word for March 7 is Wander. One of my favorite places to wander is the grounds of Weston Priory in Weston, VT. I never take a walk there but I am refreshed and invigorated. It is a very peaceful place.

Pastor Beth's Sermon on May 16

"In the end, it doesn’t matter if we have stars on our bellies or not. Realizing that is realizing God’s overwhelming grace. A grace so powerful that it allows us to step out of the relentless lines going in and out, and instead embrace a new reality and identity as children of God. Together. For in Christ Jesus, we are indeed one."

What UCP Means to Me

[04/14/21]   Pastor Marcus shares this prayer for us:

God of all families, help us to remember that you have promised to hear the prayers of your people. Once again, we hear the cries of parents, family, friends, and others who mourn the death of Daunte Wright, yet, another person who has died in an incident of policing in America. After another act of lethal force, our hearts are heavy, our peace has been disturbed, a spirit of anguish has been stirred by this tragic death in Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis. Again, at the hands of police, another child can’t return home to the embrace of waiting parents, another child can’t feel the hug from a parent returning home, another lover is left with the empty experience of bereavement rather than the full embrace of love that has returned.
God of justice, help us to remember that you have promised to hear the prayers of your people. As they weep in public, may the family of Daunte Wright help America to “reimagine policing” and societal redemption for criminal justice. We heard Daunte Wright's father, Aubrey Wright, say, "I lost my son, he's never coming back." We remember that your servant, David wept publicly for the lost of his child, and servants of King David heard him say of his child, “I shall go to him, but he will not return to me,” (2 Samuel 12: 23, NRSV).
God of comfort and compassion, help us to remember that you have promised to hear the prayers of your people. As we wait for the outcome of the trial of trial of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd, help us to remember that weeping endures for a night but joy comes in the mourning. Help us to remember the words which Jesus cried from the cross, “Father forgive them, they do not know what they do.” Help us to remember the words that Stephen cried from his moment of martyrdom, “Father forgive them, they do not know what they do.” You have promised that sorrow and sighing shall flee. May all desires for retaliation and retribution flee. May the determination for restorative justice, reconstruction of community policing, and re-imagining of criminal justice be achieved.
God of hope, help us to remember that you have promised to hear the prayers of your people—that heaven promises to bend its ear towards the cries of earthly sorrow. Help us to remember the prayers of your psalmist,
Strengthen the weak hands,
and make firm the feeble knees.
Say to those who are of a fearful heart,
“Be strong, do not fear! (Isaiah 35:3-4, NRSV)

Who We Are

An open & affirming church, United Christian Parish is united in ministry: Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Presbyterian Church (USA), United Church of Christ and United Methodist. The practices and beliefs of all four denominations are seen in worship and our ministries.
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to worship at God's table, no matter where they are on their faith journey.
We intentionally work to be like Jesus - open to all we meet, regardless of any "labels" our society may attach to them.
