Here's the SUMMARY from United States Access Board:

The Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board (Access Board) is issuing this Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) to begin the process of establishing accessible design standards for universal changing tables and standards on the privacy, accessibility, and sanitation equipment of the room in which a universal changing table is located, pursuant to the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024. The Access Board seeks public comment on its proposed approach to accessibility standards for these facilities to inform a future rulemaking establishing such standards.

The U.S. Access Board has published an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) asking for public comment on its approach to developing technical standards for universal changing stations required to be provided by sponsors of medium and large hub airports seeking airport development project grants. One way to plan for individuals with disabilities is to have powered, height-adjustable adult size changing tables in shelters. Where are the emergency shelters in your community? Do they have a powered, height-adjustable adult size changing table? We are happy to have some conversations with your community leaders about this need and share about our TN Adult Changing Table Grant to help with funding. Because everyone deserves dignity!

This week, the leaders of each Changing Spaces chapter came together for our monthly meeting. We had a meaningful conversation about the importance of *powered, height adjustable* universal changing tables and their safety features.

It's likely not hard to imagine lifting a 25 pound 3 year old onto an infant changing table. Is it easy? No. Do they fit safely? Not really. But it's doable. It's also doable to lower them onto the floor for a change.

Now, imagine a 110 pound full-size adult. Not only is it hard to imagine, it's not at all safe. For the caregiver or the individual with a disability. But this is the reality that we face as we, and our dependents, age. This is why we advocate for powered, height adjustable universal changing tables.
