One thing became clear very quickly at : People wanted to meet the founders.

Throughout the event (including a stop at Fort Mason), attendees regularly walked up to our student founders to ask questions, hear their stories, learn more about their startups, and even snap a few photos.

Watching founders like of and Surya Kukkapalli of Revora Health connect with developers, entrepreneurs, and technology leaders from around the world was one of our favorite moments.

A reminder that the next generation of founders is already making an impact. 💙

Before the winner was announced, there was this moment.

Three student-founded startups standing on the Microsoft Build stage, ready to share what they had built with a global audience of developers, founders, investors, and technology leaders.

For Revora Health, SpoilSafe, and CopyFlag, this moment represented months (years) of learning, building, refining, and growing as founders.

Every late night, every challenge, every pivot, and every pitch led to this stage.

While only one startup would be named World Champion, each founder had already achieved something extraordinary: turning an idea into a startup and sharing that journey with the world.

These are the moments that remind us what Imagine Cup is all about. 💙

The courage to start. The determination to keep building. And the belief that students can create meaningful change.

A photo like this captures more than a week together.

It captures new friendships, shared experiences, late-night conversations, lessons learned, and the kind of encouragement that only comes from being surrounded by people who understand the startup journey.

Every founder arrived with a different story, a different perspective, and a different vision for the future.

They left with something in common: a group of peers they’ll be cheering on for years to come.

Some of the most meaningful outcomes can’t be measured by a trophy, a pitch score, or a final ranking.

Sometimes they’re measured by the relationships that begin along the way. 💜🌍

One sign. Countless stories.

Behind every Imagine Cup sign is a founder who took a chance on an idea.

This year, we had the opportunity to bring together founders from CopyFlag, Revora Health, SpoilSafe, L-Guard Ltd, World37 and Nyck.ai, along with James Hurtado , a Gold Microsoft Student Ambassador and winner of the Microsoft Global AI Hackathon.

Each arrived with a different story, a different startup, and a different vision for the future.

What they shared was the courage to start, the determination to keep building, and the willingness to learn along the way.

Because Imagine Cup is more than a competition. It’s a community of founders, builders, and innovators who are shaping what’s next.

We’re proud to have each of them as part of the Imagine Cup family. 💜

One of the most valuable parts of the Imagine Cup experience happens outside the competition itself.

At the Microsoft for Startups reception during , our student founders had the opportunity to connect with fellow entrepreneurs, exchange ideas, and learn from leaders helping shape the future of startups and AI.

From conversations with Tom Davis, General Manager of Microsoft for Startups, Sally Ann Frank, Global Lead for Startup Ecosystem at Microsoft for Startups, and Girish Bablani, President of Microsoft Azure, to connecting with founders at every stage of their journey, the evening was filled with insights, encouragement, and new connections.

Building a startup can be challenging, but being surrounded by a community of founders who understand the journey makes all the difference.

Moments like these are a reminder that Imagine Cup is more than a competition. It’s a community that continues long after the final pitch. 💙

🏆 The plaques have officially made it home.

After receiving the 2026 Imagine Cup Top Launch Startup award at , Terry returned to Rwanda to celebrate with the entire L-Guard Ltd. team as each team member received a plaque commemorating this achievement.

Congratulations to Terry Manzi, Helen Ugoeze Okereke, Erioluwa Olowoyo, and on this well-deserved recognition. 👏

While these plaques mark an important milestone, they also represent the countless hours, dedication, and shared mission that brought L-Guard to this moment.

Success is never built alone, and this achievement belongs to the entire team.

We’re excited to see what comes next for L-Guard. 🌍

What if one decision could change the trajectory of your startup?

In our latest Signal story, founders from the Imagine Cup community share what they’ve learned about building in the age of AI, from developing technical skills to gaining the confidence to pitch, adapt, and grow.

The opportunity continues to grow, too. This year, the Imagine Cup World Championship prize increased to $150,000 USD, along with mentorship from Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella and support from Microsoft for Startups.

But ask many founders what they gained from the experience, and they’ll tell you it goes beyond the prize money.

It’s the lessons learned, the connections made, and the confidence gained along the way.

What happens when student founders take the global stage?

Watch the full 2026 Imagine Cup World Championship from Microsoft Build, where CopyFlag, Revora Health, and SpoilSafe pitched their startups live in front of a global audience of developers, founders, investors, and technology leaders.

🏆 Congratulations to our 2026 Imagine Cup World Champion, CopyFlag!

Built by Patrick Brown from the University of Oxford, CopyFlag is helping creators protect their original work in the age of generative AI. Using Azure-powered AI models, the platform detects copied and AI-modified content across the internet, helping creators identify infringement faster and automate takedowns at scale.

What began through Patrick's personal experience of having his own work copied online evolved into a mission to make advanced content protection accessible beyond the world's largest brands and enterprises.

As the 2026 Imagine Cup World Champion, CopyFlag receives $150,000 USD, a mentorship session with Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, continued support through Microsoft for Startups, plus an additional 6 months and $5,000 USD in credits from Replit.

👏 Congratulations as well to our fellow finalists:

🎤 The Imagine Cup World Championship wasn’t the only opportunity our finalists had to share their stories.

At , the founders behind Revora Health, SpoilSafe and stepped onto the Lightning Talk stage to share the stories, challenges, and experiences that shaped their startups.

From improving healthcare outcomes to reducing food waste across supply chains and protecting creators in the age of generative AI, these founders offered attendees a closer look at the problems they’re working to solve and the journeys that inspired them to build.

It’s one thing to build a startup. It’s another to stand in front of a global audience and share the journey behind it.

We’re proud of how these founders represented themselves, their startups, and the Imagine Cup community. 👏🌍

One of the highlights of Build this past week was spending time with Hans Yang and the team.

During breakfast with our student founders, Hans shared his own founder journey—the wins, the setbacks, the lessons learned, and the realities of building something from the ground up.

One theme resonated throughout the conversation: choose your team carefully. 💡

The right people won’t just help build the product. They’ll help shape the culture, navigate the challenges, and stand beside you through the moments that matter most.

For founders preparing to scale a startup, those insights are invaluable. And hearing them from someone who has spent years working alongside founders and helping startups grow made the conversation all the more meaningful. 📈

Thank you, Hans, for investing in our founders and for sharing your experience so candidly.
