Consumer Stocks Surge as Earnings Season Heats Up | CHART THIS In this episode of CHART THIS, Dave Keller wraps up a bullish week ...

appears hell bent on snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Successful test of the 50-day MA earlier this week leading to a potential breakdown on Friday. Remaining neutral on this chart until and unless we can get a valid push above 37K.

Seems likely the $VIX will finish the week safely below 20. Low volatility environment, although individual stock volatility (and certainly investor emotional volatility!) remains elevated. "Don't wait for a breakdown scenario to figure out what you'd do in a breakdown scenario!"

That's right, friends... the Hindenburg Omen raised another red flag this week, with multiple signals over the last week to confirm the bearish pattern. The tornado siren is going off. Are you going to play out in the yard and assume it's nothing? Or are you going to gather essentials and head to the basement, just in case?

Every investor has a plan until the market tests it.

Systems don't usually fail because the framework was wrong. They fail because someone abandoned it at the exact moment it mattered most.

This Thursday, July 30 at 1:00 PM ET, Dave goes live with Vince Randazzo, CMT and Ryan Gorman, CMT, CFA, BFA of Tamarisk Capital Management to talk about how professional investors build systems that survive bear markets.

Bear markets don't break portfolios. They break the discipline behind them.

We'll cover:
— How professional systems actually get built: which inputs matter (breadth measures like advance-decline lines and the percentage of stocks above key moving averages) and how those inputs combine into one repeatable signal.
— Why disciplined investors abandon their own systems, and what keeps you engaged when your brain is screaming to get out.
— What breadth is telling us right now, in July, and exactly what would need to happen for a system to turn risk-off, with real lessons from prior market tops.

This isn't a conversation about "having a process" in the abstract. It's specific: real inputs, real thresholds, real decisions made in real drawdowns.

Act too early on a signal and you exit gains that were still building. Act too late and you give back everything the system was built to protect. Vince and Ryan will walk through exactly how they thread that line, with evidence, not emotion.

Nvidia $NVDA certainly seems hell bent on holding a confluence of support. 200-day moving average, Fibonacci 61.8% retracement, and June/July swing lows all around $190-192. For now, support is holding strong with no follow through after yesterday's breakdown.

The chart I show people when they say, "Yeah, but how much higher could interest rates really go?"

Much higher. Much. Higher.

$VIX closed over 20 yesterday for the first time since June, and the second time since the March selloff. Volatility coming in today, but the general trend still higher over the last week. Higher vol = higher uncertainty = higher chance of 📉
