In the Works: Downtown Vision
As part of the update to the City of Beaumont's current General Plan, the update included creating a Downtown Area Plan.
The Downtown Area Plan includes areas along Beaumont Avenue, 6th Street, and adjoining blocks. The plan will create a balanced and integrated mix of residential, office, retail and civic land uses that generate daily activity during daytime hours, and in the evenings create a lively and dynamic environment. This plan encourages opportunities for public gathering spaces and parks for civic and cultural events that are supported by a street network which meets the needs of pedestrians, bicyclists, and motor vehicles.
On Thursday, March 24, 2022, Mayor White and Councilmember Lara met with Downtown business owners for a presentation on the City's Vision for the Downtown Area Plan, as well as discuss some of the unique needs and challenges for the business and property owners in this area.
Next Steps: Staff is gathering feedback from the Planning Commission, Economic Development Committee and downtown businesses and property owners on development standards and design guidelines.
