It's with great sadness to hear about the passing of good friend, Steve McClure. Steve was instrumental along Gary Grossich (owner Nicelodeon Pizza) with creating the first car shows for Nickelodeon Pizza at Movieland Frontier Town (Valley Blvd) Colton. Steve was smart, creative (a chemistry teacher for the Chino school district). I learned so much about how to DJ at car shows from Steve. And then we just talked and talked, and drank a lot of beer too! Great times! Eventually Steve passed that show onto me, my first show! Thank you Steve for the knowledge my friend. My prayers and condolences to his wife Delores & the children, and may you rest in peace in heaven. And some how I know that Steve is spinning the hits in heaven too! Love you brother.

I don't post much on FB, lately it seems that I only post when someone I admire passes. So here's another one of those posts. One of the great legendary DJ's has passed away. Dave Hull, "The Hullabalooer", went to be with the Lord Oct 15th. Dave was one of those of those great 'wacky' morning guys of LA radio. He was enormously popular in LA from the 60's-90's. Dave & fellow DJ Bob Eubanks (The Newlywed Game) put together the Beatles concert at Dodger stadium. Dave interviewed the Beatles 14 times! Later he would be known as the Fifth Beatle. He also had a TV dance show caller 'Hullaboo'. Had a local band record a song about him & even ahd an ice cream flavor named after him. In 1982 Dave was rehired by KRLA to do mornings, I started at KRLA (my first gig) in the 1983. Later I would run Dave's taped Saturday morning show & he would call me to make sure everything was going alright & to say that I was doing a great job! You know what that means to a 23 year old kid at his first job in radio? Dave was (& still is one of the best DJ's & storytellers I've ever met. R.I.P Dave "The Hullabalooer"!

Musician, singer & actor Trini Lopez passed away at the age of 83 of Covid-19. He was best known for his cover of the Peter, Paul & Mary version of the late 40's, early 50's song 'If I Had a Hammer'
He appeared in several movies, including the blockbuster hit 'The Dirty Dozen' in '67 and also appeared in on the Ed Sullivan Show, Dean Martin Show & Rowan & Martin's Laugh in' I remember playing Trini' songs back in my 'Oldies But Goodies' days. Lopez lived in Palm Springs CA. R.I.P Trini Lopez.

One of my all time favorite TV hosts ever, has passed away. Regis Philbin died today at the age of 88. Known for 'Live' with Regis & Kathi Lee, first in L.A., (with Cindy Garvey) then the show moved to New York, (Kathi Lee) then went national few years later. Of course, much success with 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' as well. A Navy veteran, he also had his own show in San Diego, and a sidekick for comedian Joey Bishop. For me personally, Regis was one of the best story tellers! Also he was big fan of Norte Dame football (Regis was a graduate). I had to the opportunity to meet Regis & Kathi Lee in the early 90's when they taped a show back in L.A. Highlight of my life! R.I.P Regis, my hero.

One of the original & founding fathers of rock n roll has passed away. Little Richard (Richard Penniman) was a pioneer of the roots of rock, his first big hit ‘Tutti Frutti’ (1955) was followed by “Long Tall Sally”, “Rip It Up”, “Lucille” , and “Good Golly Miss Molly”. The Beatles once opened for Little Richard while on tour in Europe! Little Richard may be gone but his music will live on forever. Personal note: I started my radio career in 'oldies radio' I played a lot of Richard's songs on the air & a lot of his music at car shows as well. Shedding a tear for a true legend .🎶😢

9 Babies Born in 5 Months to California Firefighters The fire department had a photo shoot to celebrate all the births.

Everybody loves babies right? How about babies and firefighters? It's a win-win! Nine firefighters at Rancho Cucamonga FD had a photo shoot Monday (9.23.19) to celebrate their nine babies 7 girls & 2 boys born between March & July. The story covered locally first by KABC 7 TV, then picked up nationally by ABC World News Tonight with David Muir. Other TV stations followed. Is there something in the water in Rancho? 😆 It's a really neat story.

Firefighters in Southern California introduce new bundles of joy

R.I.P Jessi Combs. Jessi Combs was known as the fastest woman on four wheels. She was a race car driver, mechanic, tv star & more. Jessi died after setting a record with a jet powered car yesterday (8.27.19) in Alvord Desert in southeast Oregon, she was 39. I had the opportunity to meet Jessi in 2014 at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona. She was very gracious and polite. And even though she was busy, she still had time to chat & take a pic with me. Condolences to her family. jessicombs.com

Where did the time go? Just wanted to share this. A new member of the family is just days away. My daughter Gabbie & awesome son in law Logan are expecting their first child. Just seems like yesterday i was holding Gabbie in my arms! Next stage of your life Mija is right around the corner. So blessed. Can't wait to meet Charlotte! (and I'm gonna be a grandpa!) Just call me Papa Slick!

Happy Birthday today my youngest girl, my baby girl Camryn! Never forget, Lisa & I were sitting in the doctors office, and he said: 'well, we can schedule for c-section somewhere between Sept 15 thru 21st. I chimed in & said ,..well I've got the Route 66 Rendezvous, so can we do it anytime after that? So she was born Sept 20, 1999! My route 66 girl! Happy 19th birthday Cammie! I Love you!...Dad.🎂

Great memories! For 23 years the 3rd weekend in September meant, the 'Stater Bros Route 66 Rendezvous' in downtown San Bernardino. I'm very proud to say I was a part of it & was inducted into the 'Cruisin' Hall of Fame' in 2012. Due to budget cuts 2012 was the last year. The 'cars are the stars' we use to say, but celebs showed up too. Thanks to the late Jack Brown of Stater Bros for working so hard to make that event happen. There will never ever be another event like it.

A R&B legend has passed. The Queen of Soul is gone. Aretha Franklin a multiple Grammy award-winning singer whose career spanned seven decades, has died aged 76. As most of you close to me know that I'm a pretty private guy (which is tough to do after 35 years of being on the radio!). But a thank you to all for the the kind words, thought & prayers. Some of you know our family has been through a lot over the past 60-70 days. End of April (4.21.18) my brother in law & Compa Tony lost his mother Josie, then unexpectedly Memorial day weekend my mother in law (Lisa's Mom) Olivia passed (5.27.18), then I lost my Mom Virginia end of June (6.27.18). We buried my Mom last Wed (7.11.18). 3 Moms, Grandmothers, Great Grandmothers & mother in laws. All beautiful women & will be truly missed. But God is good & knows what he's doing, because we all have each other for support & comfort. BTW Mon (7.16.18) is my mother in laws birthday, Happy Birthday Livvy! Again, thanks friends & famila for everything! Love you guys!

Well, 35 years ago today (7.6.83) I walked into the Huntington Sheraton Hotel in Pasadena CA., home of AM 1110 'The Heart & Soul of Rock 'n Roll KRLA' & began my radio career. I was the night time show producer (answered request & dedication lines). God has truly blessed me with a wonderful career, so I give all glory to God! Thank you to all who've listened to me throughout the years!

FYI: History of how I became owner of the car. My great friend Jim Frisch is an avid car collector, this 1961 Chevy Nomad was part of his collection. I fell in love with it about 10 years ago. I told Jim, 'I'm gonna buy that car from you someday' Well, while hosting a car show at Jim's church, the car was there & he surprised me with the car as a gift! I know unbelievable, he gave me the car. Talk about a true friend. He's one of my best friends & he's my spiritual adviser as well. I love Jim. My wife Lisa & I have become great friends with Jim & his lovely wife Kathi. Well this past Monday (6.4.18) Jim suffered a heart attack, he's doing fine & will make a full recovery. Please pray for Jim & his lovely family.
