I love helping clients find more length in their spine and giving them tools to use outside of the Pilates studio between sessions. Through the wedges and some conscious elongation, this client was able to find more freedom in her spine during her first ever Pilates session.

Received this sweet email from a new client and had to share: “I had a great session with Chav- she’s a gem. Chav is truly awesome at what she does and has a great teaching style. Even though it was an introductory session, I felt the impact on my muscles and felt comfortable with what I was doing.” Did you know we offer complimentary 30 minute private lessons to new clients? Come see what Pilates can do for you!

Thank you Juliet for helping me feel my abs again! After 2 compression fractures 20 yrs apart a lot of tension has developed around my T11 & T12 vertebrae. Juliet helped me find my abs in supine flexion on the reformer and extension on the barrels. It is always illuminating and insightful to work with other teachers. Thank you Juliet for helping me find my abs again! After two compression fractures 20 yrs apart in T11 & T12 a lot of tension in the muscles surrounding has been inhibiting my true spinal elongation and ability to find my abdominals in some of the supine flexion we do in Pilates (and my forward bends jn yoga). Taking lessons from other teachers is always illuminating and insightful! Thank you Juliet and I can’t wait to see you again!

It’s been a joy working with …she is in her 38th week of pregnancy and glowing strong! Pilates requires you to focus and have awareness of your body, engage your core correctly, and as Joe Pilates said …”is the complete coordination of mind and body” - which is exactly the kind of practice an expecting Mom needs. Sending all the love and blessings to Claudia and her daughter and family ♥️.

Introducing the delightful Chav’nair Stocker… Chav’, as she likes to be called, comes from Riverside Community College Pilates Certification program. RCC is where I started practicing Pilates 17 years ago and some of the same teachers who inspired me to teach trained Chav’ in the program. Many of you in the studio have already worked with Chav’ and all agree that she is very warm and welcoming in her classes, while teaching a challenging workout delivered with encouragement and enthusiasm. I am beyond thrilled and lucky to have her in studio working with our wonderful clients. Chav teaches mat every Thursday at 9 am and has openings Saturday mornings for private, semi-private and group sessions.

Reading a super interesting article about practicing Pilates for runners completing a 5-km run. This article breaks down the classical mat work the runners practiced in a 12 week study and how participants were able to reduce their overall expenditure of metabolic energy resulting in faster run times. In sum, better biomechanics and greater lumbosacral stability = more efficiency in the runner. Sunday morning at the center and I are looking forward to warming everyone up in the running club. See you bright and early!

I love the challenge when a client comes in with a real specific need and we use the Pilates equipment to achieve their goals! Excited to see how Stephanie’s run improves from this exercise! check it out! :)

Asking for positive thoughts, prayers and all your good vibes for my wonderful Husband Jayson today and for the next couple of weeks while he makes a speedy recovery from Coronary Artery Bypass surgery. After experiencing some chest pain that he had attributed to stress, we went to the ER last Sunday because he was having chest pain accompanied with nausea and sweating. The ER docs said his heart is strong, but found elevated levels of troponin indicating heart stress, indicative of an NSTEM myocardial infarction. Transferred to Riverside Community Hospital, a CT scan and follow up angiogram showed a 95% blockage in his left coronary artery. All his EKGs have looked good, oxygen levels, and no damage to his heart other than the blockage. Doctors thinks it’s likely genetic factors determined this random, inconvenient place for a blockage to occur, preventing placement of a stint. We are EXTREMELY lucky to have found this when we did and that we acted on our instincts to get him checked out. And we are so Grateful to have friends and family around to support us this week and in the coming weeks and months. Mostly we are blessed that we are going through this together, as it has brought us to another level of closeness and growth as a married couple. So we humbly ask you keep Jayson in your thoughts and prayers and we look forward to sharing in the joy of his full recovery and our future together.

First of ’sSeries. Fun teacher workout (incl some brave non teachers!) with Siri Galliano, classical Pilates teacher with decades of experience and my teacher of the last 7 years. We started with Mat Pilates, worked out in the entire system of Pilates apparatus, and finished on the barrels which feels lovely to the back and one of my favorite ways to finish a Pilates class. Got lots of inspiration and learned a couple of new exercises on the arm chair. Looking forward to the next workshop!

My favorite apparatus in the Pilates system is the Wunda chair!

Did you know?! I am now teaching a mixed level Iyengar Yoga Class on Thursdays at 4pm Divine Yoga Studio, where I share space with my Pilates studio.

I have been working with my mentor since 2018 towards certification in the Iyengar method and it is my goal to attain certification at the next Assessment in fall of 2023.

Iyengar yoga is fun, safe and effective!

Iyengar yoga uses props to help you understand the actions in the pose and also helps you to get into the pose mindfully and with precision so you can attain the most benefit.

My background as a Pilates teacher instantly attracted me to this form of yoga as taught by BKS Iyengar. Both Iyengar and Pilates have a lot in common as forms of exercise that are corrective to posture via emphasizing alignment and precise practice in the poses or exercises.

Pilates and Yoga have similar benefits but the intention is different. Yoga is the practice of the physical asanas (poses) to prepare the body for meditation. Pilates is physical conditioning for whatever your life demands of your body.

I invite you to come try my class or any of the awesome classes at Divine Yoga Studio. You will always feel better after coming to class.

June Mat Class Schedule:

Love the arm chair for working the arms without over developing the upper traps, while recruiting abdominals, glutes and hamstrings.

Been getting a lot of great feedback from my clients this past week:
* “I used to need a strap in order to do that, now I am can reach my ankle” (improved external rotation in the hips)
* “My massage therapist said the muscle tone in my hips has improved since I started Pilates” * “Thus is better than a massage!” (She was working on spinal articulation and stretching the back side of the body)
And, * “ I remember when I couldn’t do a Pilates roll-down, and now it is much easier” (used to need the back wedge to articulate through her spine, no longer needed) 😁
