Most networking groups feel like a room full of business cards.
This isn’t that.
This is what it looks like when people actually show up for each other
pass real referrals and build relationships that don’t stop when the meeting ends
That’s the difference
Proud to be part of RDU Heatwave
If you’ve been burned by “networking” before you probably just haven’t seen it done right yet.
Want your marketing to actually work?
Let’s build a system that does.

0 → 7,800 impressions in 90 days.
No ads.
No gimmicks.
No guessing.
Just a system.
Most businesses don’t need more content. They need a structure that actually works.
If you’re stuck on what to post next…
That’s the real problem.

Lately, business owners keep telling me the same thing:
“Sales are down.”
Then come the reasons: location, parking, and the economy.
And look, those things are real.
But when nothing about the business has changed except how often people see you…it’s not a sales problem.
It’s a visibility problem.
If people can’t find you, they can’t trust you.
If they don’t see you consistently, they forget you exist.
No visibility → no trust → no sales.
That’s not bad luck.
That’s a missing system.

For 12 years, I made sure my retail store showed up wherever my competitors did.
Because if people can’t find your business, they don’t know you exist.
And if they don’t know you exist, they can’t trust you.
That’s where most small businesses get stuck.
Visibility → Trust → Relationship → Community.
That’s the system.

This is what happens when marketing stops being guesswork.
Most marketing doesn’t fail because of a lack of effort.
Not random ideas.
Not chasing trends.
Strategy backed by real data.
Built around the business.
Most marketing doesn’t fail because of effort.
It fails because there’s no system behind it.
If it feels inconsistent, that’s usually the reason.

You don’t build a business in isolation; you build it in rooms like this.
Last week at the State of the City, I was reminded how important it is to just show up.
Not for a pitch.
Not for a sale.
Just to be in the room with people who care about where Raleigh is going.
Had some great conversations with leaders, friends, and people doing real work behind the scenes in this city.
And honestly, that’s where the magic happens.
Not every conversation turns into business, but every one builds a relationship.
If you’re trying to grow this year, don’t overthink it.
Just start showing up.

I ran a business for 12 years.
For most of that time, my marketing wasn’t a system.
It was whatever I could pull together that week.
Some weeks it worked.
Some weeks it didn’t.
I didn’t understand why until I started looking at the pattern.
What I discovered was simple:
It wasn’t about posting more.
It was about having a repeatable marketing system.
Most small businesses don’t need more content.
They need a cadence they can run every week without starting from scratch.
If any of these 3 signs sound familiar, the playbook in the last slide is where I’d start.
It’s the same simple marketing system I built for my own business and now use to help my clients grow.

For years I kept hearing the same marketing advice:
“Plan your social media content 30 days in advance.”
It sounded smart.
But every time I sat down to do it, I ended up staring at a blank screen wondering how I was supposed to fill an entire month of posts.
If you run a small business, you already know how that usually ends.
You close the laptop and just post whatever you can pull together that day.
I eventually realized the issue wasn’t discipline.
It was that the system didn’t fit the way small businesses actually work.
What finally worked better was a simple weekly marketing rhythm instead of a 30-day calendar.
I wrote about that shift in a new article here: https://monkeyfanscreative.substack.com/p/the-30-day-marketing-calendar-you?r=6mjcgv

Raleigh has a pretty special business community.
Over the years, I’ve had the chance to meet some incredible people, business owners, civic leaders, advocates, and people working hard behind the scenes to make this city stronger.
What most people don’t see is how much of our local economy runs on relationships. Conversations. Introductions. Showing up.
That’s where the real momentum happens.
Grateful to be part of this ecosystem and to know so many people who care deeply about Raleigh and the small businesses that make this city what it is.

Most small businesses think they have a marketing problem.
They think they need more posts.
More content.
More platforms.
But what I usually see is something different.
The real issue is the lack of a simple marketing system.
One week, everything is active.
The next week, nothing happens.
Then everything gets rushed again when panic sets in.
That cycle isn’t a creativity problem.
It’s a structure problem.
When the system is clear, marketing gets easier to execute and measure.
Consistency beats chaos every time.
