A Slower, Healthier Pace
It seems we run our lives like trains, speeding along a track laid down by others, going so fast that what we pass blurs on by. Then we say we've been there, done that. The truth is that blurring by something is not the same as experiencing it.
So, no matter how many wonderful opportunities come my way, no matter the importance placed on these things by others who have my best interests at heart, I must somehow find a way to slow down the train that is me until what I pass by is again seeable, touchable, feel-able. Otherwise, I will pass by everything...but will have experienced and lived through nothing. ~Mark Nepo

In reading yogic philosophy about impermanence, I came across The Five Remembrances per Shakyamuni Buddha. The last of the 5 seem particularly poignant at this time: “My actions are my only true belongings. I cannot escape the consequences of my actions. My actions are the ground on which I stand.”

We may all be feeling like we are a bit helpless during this time. But taking care of yourself right now and observing government mandates is what you can do. That's showing respect for yourself - and others. And that is a big deal!


People have asked me how to deal with the anger they are currently feeling at this time, anger towards the current situation, the loss of life, disappointment with our leaders. With what feels like Injustice.
Remember: That which angers me, Controls me.
So – give yourself a hug for being human. Wrap your arms around your midsection with your hands on your lower ribs. Now take a deep breath, expanding your lower ribs as if trying to push your hands away.
This time out allows us to release the anger that exhausts us. Don’t let that anger steal your energy!
Now you will have the energy to do something more positive. Look into how you can register voters. Donate to causes. Write a letter to a lonely person in a care facility.
You Control You. Self-care includes letting go of anger so that you can be constructive instead of perpetuating hate and anger.

Some Random Thoughts!
1. Drink Tulsi Tea. It's great for the Immune System.
2. Breathe deeply and slowly to Calm the Mind.
3. Move! Walk around your house or neighborhood. Climb your stairs (if you have them) a couple of times a day. Play with your Dogs - and Kids! Dance!! Exercise releases those feel good hormones which we all need in particular right now!
4. Avoid eating Junk Food! Being home does not give you a pass on this one!
5. Eat more Almonds, Figs and Dates. These are Ayurvedic "Super Foods"!
6. Emotions such as Anger & Disappointment suppress the Immune System. Process these emotions & then let them go!
7. Treat yourself Kindly. Give yourself a Manicure, a Facial. You have time now for these things you don't usually get to!

Being in any way responsible for another becoming ill is not acceptable to me when the risk can be minimized if not totally avoided.

Each posture or body mudra was like a meditation in and of itself and was held for a minimum of 2 minutes, and some were held for much longer.


When selecting the foods that you will put into your body, and those of loved ones, be picky. It’s ok to be picky about your food!
