Thank you to Josh Kaplan, Veteran Program facilitator at Saratoga WarHorse, for an informative and inspirational presentation yesterday for our Dr. Norman A. Enhorning Lecture and Lunch Series participants! We learned about The Saratoga WarHorse's mission to improve the physical, mental and emotional health of Veterans with post-traumatic stress by providing a healing, equine-assisted experience utilizing off-the-track Thoroughbreds. This lecture series is offered every spring and fall through SUNY Adirondack Continuing Education, with different presenters each semester.

What makes social media so enticing? In what ways is social media engineered to manipulate emotions, spread disinformation and nurture addiction? What solutions can we employ to improve our mental health and media literacy while engaging in the virtual world more healthily? An Oct. 21 conference, “The Digital Age of Vulnerability: Better Social Media & Mental Health,” will address these questions and more. The conference is jointly sponsored by SUNY Plattsburgh at Queensbury and SUNY Adirondack. I'm teaching a baking class at the SUNY Adirondack Culinary School!

This Sat. Oct 1st 1-3pm. I'll be teaching how to make traditional Italian biscotti. Will have fun baking while enjoying some of my delicious biscotti with a cup of tea or coffee. Bring home a doz. of biscotti to share with your family and friends. You'll each receive a gift for taking my class.

Do you know the ins and outs of Medicare? What happens if you do not sign up for the right coverage at the right time? Do you know what IRMMA is? Some mistakes could carry lifelong penalties, meaning you will have to pay more for Medicare benefits. This course is for those who have Medicare, are about to reach 65 and/or are ready to retire or questioning whether to keep their employer insurance. Learn about the process required to apply for Medicare through Social Security, review significant differences between a Medicare Advantage Plan, a Medicare Supplement Plan (Medigap Policy) and the Part D Prescription Coverage. The instructor will also discuss how you can determine if you may be eligible for NYS Prescription Assistance or the NYS Medicare Savings Program. Having this knowledge is imperative in making the appropriate choice for you.

We're pleased to partner with Saratoga Springs CSD to hold Continuing Education courses in the Saratoga area, starting this fall. SUNY Adirondack is seeking course proposals for adult community education courses to begin in Fall 2022, to be held at Saratoga Springs CSD, SUNY Adirondack Saratoga and at community sites around the region.
