Aviation Mall will be hosting a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Friday, October 21st from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. across from Regal Cinema.
Following Hurricane Ian’s devastating landfall, the American Red Cross is urging eligible individuals to give blood and help ensure patients in impacted areas continue to have access to lifesaving blood. Through its national inventory management system, the Red Cross has the ability to move blood around the country to wherever and whenever it is needed most. It’s important to remember that blood is perishable and cannot be stockpiled. Type O positive blood is the most transfused blood type and type O negative is the universal blood type which can be transfused to patients of any blood types. The Red Cross depends on generous volunteer blood donors to provide lifesaving blood for those in need each and every day, not only during times of disaster.
To make an appointment to donate, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or sign up online at redcrossblood.org with sponsor code: AVIATIONMALLNY.

Donating blood is a safe process and an essential service. Patients, especially those with sickle cell disease, need donors now more than ever. The American Red Cross has faced a concerning drop in blood donations this summer. The decline in donations has caused the Red Cross blood supply to shrink nearly 20% in recent weeks. The availability of blood products will continue to decline if donations do not increase. Type O negative blood donors are especially needed now.
Donors at this blood drive will be automatically entered for a chance to win gas for a year (a $6,000 value). There will be three lucky winners! To make an appointment to donate, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or sign up online at redcrossblood.org with sponsor code: AVIATIONMALLNY.
The ARCC has partnered with Confidata to offer a FREE shred event for the community. Participants can bring up to 5 boxes to shred (box size cannot exceed 24" X 12" X 10 1/4 ").
