Gender pronouns are the words we use to refer to a person when not using their name. Here are some typical gender pronouns listed above. The language you use matters and by championing more inclusive language you can help to build a more equitable world for people who identify as LGBTQ+.
Unsure about how to begin? When meeting new people, lead with your pronouns so others feel comfortable sharing theirs. If you’re in a new group, ask everyone to share their pronouns as folks go around introducing themselves- don’t just put the spotlight on the individual you might not be sure about. Ask in a 1:1 conversation if you are unsure. It’s a sign of respect that you want to address someone correctly. Remember, it’s all about intention.
