Been a hot minute since I’ve really done anything music related. It’s a great hobby, but sometimes life smacks it to the back burner. Life is lifin’ the mess out of us, huh?
Anyway, finally getting the studio set up in our new environs. Miss my giant music room, but I’ll make this work. Better men than I have done much more with much less.
Anywho, here’s hoping for new jams coming up over the horizon…

Been a minute. Life is lifin’ all at me. Finally getting the studio set up in our new environs…
Hopefully, there’ll be some new stuff soon…

I received a transmission from my alter ego what lives in a parallel universe. Check out Boneyard Wish if you’re into grooves reminiscent of an 80s sci fi B-movie soundtrack.

‘Round about 2008 or ‘09, a friend of mine let me record some tracks in his home studio. These songs have been on a CD in storage for years, deep in the vault I’ve been exploring.
Some songs you’ll recognize — The Story of Rainbows, You & Me Tonight, A Shadow’s Life. A couple songs are just seeing the light of day.
We’re buried deep in the vault now. The light at the end of the tunnel is just starting to shine in the distance. But we still got miles to go.
Hope you enjoy.

So I’ve been trying to think of a way to announce this song. Quite a departure from the lovelorn pop of Love & Madness, There Were Times is a brutally open and honest pulling back the curtain on a traumatic and formative chapter of my life that has never left me even to this very day.
I recorded this song back in 2008 at a friend’s studio. (He had much better equipment than I did). And yet I feel like this is somehow an unfinished piece. I had intended on adding more instrumentation to it. But that never materialized unfortunately. Best laid plans and all that.
Nevertheless, it’s an important stop on our journey through my vault. In my humble opinion, it’s one of the best songs I’ve ever written. It ain’t the catchiest; there are no hooks. It’s gritty and real and full of of raw emotion. The lyrics bleed on the page like blood from my veins.
A songwriter wants to write something meaningful, something real — even if it hurts. Believe me, this one does. But there’s something healing about writing it all down, singing it out loud, and facing the ugly truth of it.
There Were Times is available everywhere.

Next in my journey deeper into the vault is Love & Madness. Still my $30 mic era, but I got a little better at the recording process… for the most part.
Lyrically, definitely the hopeless romantic vibe. Musically, an upbeat indie pop rock feel. This was where I was at in ‘06.
Available now everywhere!

More new music from the CF vault this Friday!
This one’s called “Fly Away.” It’s a pretty straightforward love song. Idk, I prolly had it bad for some now-forgotten girl who didn’t like me back.
Anyway, if ya like easygoing pop rock love songs, ya might dig this one.
This is still in my $30 microphone era, but I notice some minor improvements in my recording ability.
Hopefully y’all will enjoy it.
More music on the way…

This Friday… more new-to-you music as I dig deeper into the dusty old chest full of songs from the way-way backs.
This collection is called Too Far from Nowhere. You’ll definitely hear my love of electronica, heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics, and unsophisticated recording ability.
I’m only knee deep in the stockpile yet and there’s a long way to go. All of this is leading up to actual new music that’s finally on its way.
Till then, I hope you enjoy this collection of perfectly imperfect pieces of homespun music from a caveman with a Gateway and a $40 mic.

It’s live… check it out when ya get a chance.

So I’ve always been a big fan of guys like Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins. Definitely an 80s kid. As I continue to clean out the musical closet, this one is an early example of my pop mood. I’d say it’s fairly well executed for a caveman with a Gateway computer and a $30 microphone. But what do you think?
It’s fun letting these songs see the light of day; also a little cringy… but hopefully somebody will enjoy what I was trying to do with this one. Enjoy! (hopefully)
