Shakespeare Performance Education--Engaging community through workshops, coaching, and performance opportunities. @rishakespearerep

Rehearsal Room Stories: I took a Shakespeare performance class a few years back, with a fabulous director. There were a lot of actors I knew; I was so grateful to be there. Some people in the class wondered why I was there since I know my way around a monologue. But I think the answer was obvious: Theater artists need to practice craft. (Especially those who lead other artists). Not all of us are fortunate enough to be cast in show after show, or belong to a working company, or carry an Equity card. Some are just starting their journeys, others further along, yet, if we are serious about acting, we need to act. We need to warm up, stand on stage, memorize, show up to rehearsals, recover flubbed lines, keep the scene active--practice our art. And not just for typecast roles--but roles that stretch us, accent our vulnerability, wring the art out of us, help us shed skin. So here's an opportunity for some studio hours: www.rishakespearerep.com
