Hello everyone! Just a quick pop in to show you what I've been up to on my project grant for Canada Council for the Arts . The grant completes at the end of October. These images are in no particular order, but I am creating prototypes out of paper mache for large public art projects, a series of bud vases made from all my empty medication bottles, and large biophillic paintings that will be woven together in some manner.

This has been a long time in the making, almost 20 years. Last month founding Director Becky Wosk and myself took the steps to incorporate a new non-profit society registered in B.C. The society will provide inclusive programs, workshops, and public events that support accessible participation, creative expression, and personal development for people of all abilities, and all ages.

We have witnessed creatives with disabilities being left out of the conversation for too long, and finally we feel, along with our board, that now is the right time to present opportunities and affect policy.

Hello my instafriends!
I wanted to give an update about how my project grant from Canada Council for the Arts is going. I am planning an installation that will be multi sensory, and revolves around the idea of a 'soft world'.
My first model is converting my artwork into wall or ceiling mounted acoustic shapes, to dampen sound in commercial, educational, or healthcare settings. I created the initial models by cutting up an older painting and mounting it on regular foam, although the final product will be printed from a digital scan of my artwork onto recycled acoustic rated PET foam or felt, then cut into 5 standard shapes, to be assembled in any orientation or size.
I've already presented this model to ArtLifting who represents my work to other value based organizations, and my next step is looking for a Canadian manufacturer to build prototypes for my Canadian based installations in public galleries or site specific venues.

Another out of body moment.... I was just awarded a major grant from The Canada Council for the Arts to work on a series of paintings over the next 6 months. I want to extend my gratitude to the jury and to .council for supporting my work. I am excited to get started and have this body of work shown across Canada.
