I'm frequently asked if I do custom work. And well, it's complicated. My approach to this has evolved over the last couple years as my business has grown, and I've had different (some good, some meh) experiences with levels of "custom" projects.
I have some clarity now, and bear with me, because there are two-ish routes we can go.
Overall, I can only offer a limited range of garments and customization options.
1. The item has to be a style I already make, in a size I can accommodate. The best choices:
- Soft Power Pant or Shorts (XS-2XL)
- Soft Power Blazer (S, M, L)
- Balloon Pant (S-XL)
- Chore Jacket (XS-2XL)
- Scout Jacket (S-L)
- Pull-on shorts (S, M, L)
For pieces made with vintage textiles, the variables in final result are unpredictable. For these, I will add you to a wish list. The next time I have the right combination of materials, I will make the item in your size and give you right of first refusal.
If you want to provide your own quilt or blanket for a Studio Jacket/Coat or Coat Câline, you'll need to be in Portland, or willing to get on a Zoom call, so I can see if it's appropriate. Not all vintage textiles are meant to be reworked. I need to charge a small fee for my time on consultation, FYI.
Finally, and this is a very exciting option, you can pick out your own fabric (with my help and guidance). For example, this combination of Scout Jacket and Soft Power Pants for made from a printed Japanese twill sourced at
If you are in Portland, I can meet you at Josephine's to shop fabrics. If you're not in Portland, we can work with Josephine's to provide you with fabric samples. I love working with Bini at Josephine's because she curates an amazing selection of garment fabrics, most of which are designer deadstocks - and you'll experience top-tier customer service. You pay for the fabric, in exchange for my time in consultation. End pricing remains the same.
Hope that helps to clarify! Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey hey hiya! I've had a burst of new followers lately, so I thought I'd give you a bit of info/fun facts about Studio SCS. (And, thank you for being here!)
- Studio SCS is a one-woman-show. I, Em, source, design, cut, sew, dye, etc, each and every garment in my home "studio" and by studio I mean a nook off my living room.
-I'm also the copywriter, shipper, website designer/manager, fulfillment office, photographer, social media manager - you get the picture
- Every garment is made from vintage materials - mostly repurposing vintage bedding and tablecloths. I sometimes find vintage yardage - but the point is, I'm sourcing things on a very small, individual basis. Most things are one-of-a-kind.
- Occasionally I find vintage yardage and can do a style or two in made-to-order which gives me the advantage of being able to offer a size range.
- Vintage materials aren't always perfect and have age spots and other flaws. I do my best to notate these things, but again, these textiles are old. That also means they should be treated delicately.
-If something is available, it will be on the website - please check there and purchase from there like you would from any other brand. I'm sorry, but I don't have time to answer every DM of "is this available?"
- Join my mailing list if you want to be informed of restocks and have the opportunity to get ahead of social media shoppers. Things go quickly!
- I'm a mom of two boys, and have two high-energy dogs. There *might* be a dog hair on your order. I inspect and reinspect everything before I ship it out, but that's life 🥴
- Random fact about me, I started my career life as a professional opera singer and director
- I spent 10 years in Seattle, 10 years in New York City, and have been in Portland, OR for 18 years, I'm a dual citizen of the US and UK
- My undergraduate degree is in music with graduate work in music, strategic communications, and sustainability
- I love karaoke!
PS, this over-dyed vintage lace dress is one of the last couple of things left from the recent drop. It's really hard to get a good picture of this color - it's a pale blue. 🩵

Gah, I loved this sweet little vintage tablecloth so much, it took me forever to figure out what to do with it. I didn't want to waste any of this hand-stitched embroidery and pulled-thread lace. These are literally the tiniest cross-stitched motifs I have ever come across.
This is a deep v-neck pull-over top I'm calling the Vale Top. A little boxy, with 3/4 dolman sleeves.
Reworked vintage linen tablecloth. Just one.
