This post is less about the comparatively pedestrian storm windows we built for this house and more about the overachieving carpenters who installed all the millwork. Story goes, the man who had this house built in 1895 owned the local lumberyard. Obvi.

Have a look at one of our combination storm/screen frames. We call the “All-Season” storm window. We build a screen frame to accommodate a glass panel that can be inserted and removed from the inside. Then we paint it and hang it on your window for you to enjoy!

Here’s a couple subpar photos of an above average window! The cutest little group of awning sash you ever did see (sorry, no action shot). Great getting a chance to work with on this project.

Here's a big planer for your shop!

Griggio Planer - PSA 520 - 7.5 hp - 20" bed - tools - by owner - sale I have a Griggio planer for sale. Model PSA 520 badged as a P20 (I think this might be some kind of SCMI cross marketing or some such funny business). Here are some specs: 20” bed 7.5 hp cutter head...

Here’s a tidy project we wrapped up recently for a small family and their cute 50s era house. Swipe right to see the project from concept to finished product. How can we help you realize your window ideas?

Real pleased to have installed this sweet awning window over the weekend. Swipe for a before shot of the previous aluminum atrocity.

It’s a bit spring-like here in Portland today 🐝 🌸 ☀️ A perfect time to hang some storms on these double-hung windows we restored last year while working with Andrew Curtis and his company Full Circa on this whole house exterior restoration. Check out those pretty parting beads with no paint on ‘em - like a racing stripe for your window 👍 .circa.inc

Felt cute and decided to build a split storm for this massive cottage style window. Because of their size we decided to keep the lower sashes static but we wanted to make some ventilation available, so we used storm window stays to make the upper section operable.

Getting this fancy thing installed and balanced was no small feat. The opening had been added or modified at some point, leaving little room for a standard counter weight between the stud and the frame. The request was for the upper sash to be operable, the lower fixed, so we were able to solve the undersized cavity problem by using 1 x 2” square steel bar to optimize the available space. We occasionally have to “make weight”, depending on a project’s needs and limitations, and we haven’t encountered a sash yet that we weren’t able to balance!

It took 29 minutes, not counting glue dry time, it's sanded to 120, beveled bottom and ready for paint and glazing. We’re using shapers, tenoning jigs, a hilarious delta DIY table saw to haunch the shoulders and a triton router table to cut to copes. We need to upgrade to some real machines in order to get on par with the masters. They’re knocking this same sash out in way less time. 😭 see previous post to join the race!!!!
