Every piece of wood tells a unique story
I've always loved states and woodworking. As a kid, we would drive all over the county for vacations, collecting the number of states we visited. Every piece of wood tells a unique story and has the power to evoke memories. My hope is that a piece by Upper Left Works brings those memories and stories back to life. Every time you see your piece you'll reme
My work went up at Primo Espresso in Tigard today. For the next three weeks, a collection of wine barrel hoop art will be on their walls. Reclaimed wood scenes layered inside repurposed barrel rings. Mountains, treelines, moons, and morning light, all cut from salvaged wood that already had a life before it became art.
Primo Espresso is donating a portion of sales to Art in the Burbs, Tigard's community arts program. So your morning coffee can do double duty.
Come take a look. 3 weeks only.

Had to rearrange the shop to take on a different type of project. Working in refinishing our kitchen cabinets which involves new doors and drawer fronts. Gotta keep the wife happy!

We can help with things like clothing, bikes, small appliances, tools, pottery, jewelry, houseplants, and small plastic items.
What to expect:
• Repairs are done by volunteers — please be kind and patient
• First come, first served (arrive no later than 1pm)
• One item at a time per person
• This is not a drop-off event — plan to stay with your item
• Small items only (no large appliances or furniture)
• Repairs aren’t guaranteed and may be limited by time or parts

This one traveled home.
I was commissioned by a wonderful client to create a six-foot-wide wall hanging inspired by Twin Rocks, Oregon, for their home in Rockaway Beach. They shared photos of the piece installed in their main living space, along with a comparison to the real Twin Rocks at sunset.
I wanted the piece to hold the presence of the real landmark, with enough detail and scale that it feels familiar, even when it is lived with every day. Knowing a piece this large now lives where daily life happens makes the work feel complete.
Grateful for the trust, the collaboration, and the chance to build something rooted in place.

Busy days in the shop shipping reclaimed wood evergreen trees coast to coast, and I could not be more excited about the response. Grateful that these pieces are finding homes all over and that this idea has resonated so strongly.

A great client just sent over these shots of two whitetail euro mounts displayed on the state backers he picked up from me. I love seeing how people use these pieces in their own spaces, and this setup is dialed in. Big thanks to for sharing the photos and for the trust in my work.
Always fun to see reclaimed wood put to work like this.
