The Squaxin Island Tribe has hired Mackenzie to design a new health and wellness center.
We checked in with Architects Wendell Mueller and Kevin Jandreau to learn more about the infrastructure that’s going in right now to prepare for the wellness center’s construction.
The Squaxin Island Tribe Health & Wellness Center will offer a variety of vital functions for holistic treatment of community members. These include a medical clinic, behavioral health, a dental clinic, a pharmacy, space for health promotion and cooking, physical therapy space, and administrative space.

Yesterday, members of Mackenzie’s team joined officials from the North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District (NCPRD), Clackamas County, Oregon, Metro, and the Oregon City School District 62 to celebrate the groundbreaking for The Park at the Jennings Lodge Campus.
Mackenzie’s design for the park features an expansive tree canopy and a network of shady, winding pathways dotted with comfortable benches and moments of learning and exploration. Various habitats, including a perennial meadow and seasonal streambeds, provide opportunities to experience local flora and fauna. Two nature-inspired playgrounds allow kids of all ages and diverse abilities to climb, swing, spin, and balance.
Construction is expected to begin next month, which follows three years of outreach, design work and funding. This project is made possible by funding from Metro, the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development, and NCPRD.
Project partner JLA Public Involvement is supporting the community engagement process.

During last month’s Intern Day event with Perlo Construction, we spoke with Structural Project Engineer Samantha Schaffer and interns Sutharsana Karthikeyan and Ashlin Fisk about design and construction partnerships, eye-opening site visits, and the wide range of career opportunities available across the industry.
Mackenzie internships provide students a strong foundation for future careers through work on real projects and career-building mentorship from experienced professionals.

Thanks, INLINE Commercial Construction for sharing these images of progress on the new Main Station for Hoodland Fire District 74.
The new $19M station will support coordinated emergency response activities between Hoodland Fire, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service, and other agencies.
Mackenzie is providing our full suite of design services for this new station, including architecture, structural and civil engineering, landscape architecture, and interiors.
Our design and construction partners include Otak and INLINE Construction.
INLINE is excited to see the Hoodland Fire District #74 new fire station taking shape! As the apparatus bay slabs are wrapping up, site work is gearing up for paving in a few weeks. Construction is soon going vertical as framing begins!

We love seeing this Mackenzie-designed addition to DoveLewis Animal Hospital providing vital training space!
Workshops like this one are being held in DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital's new community room space, an important part of the new three-story addition to the DoveLewis campus.
Mackenzie designed the facility and Skanska USA built it.
"Project Whiskers" doubled DoveLewis’s facilities in Northwest Portland. It’s just across the street from their existing hospital. It includes specialized treatment areas, modern imagery spaces (MRI, x-ray, ultrasound), surgery rooms, among many other features.

Earlier this week Grainger cut the ribbon on their new, 560,000 SF distribution center in Gresham, Oregon.
Mackenzie and the Port of Portland designed this state-of-the-art industrial building with advanced manufacturing functions and a two-story, 40,000 SF collaborative office with flexible workspaces.
The project was built through a unique development model designed for sustainable growth and increased economic opportunities in the region.
