It’s time for a MackDesign charrette! 🧩📐
A few times a year, Mackenzie team members from all departments and offices come together to tackle one project. We had a chat with design directors Steven Tuttle & Lynne Ingram about our company-wide charrette challenges, how they impact our real-life projects, and the benefits of multidisciplinary brainstorming.

Recently, our team celebrated topping out at El Nido with Hacienda CDC, Colas Construction, & Access Architecture. “Topping out” is a builders' rite traditionally held when the last beam (or its equivalent) is placed at the top of a structure during its construction.
El Nido will be a 55-unit affordable housing project in Clackamas County, Oregon, with units ranging from 1-3 bedrooms. It will serve families experiencing housing insecurity and the local community through universal and trauma-informed design principles.
Mackenzie and Access Architecture designed the project.
The project's developer and owner, Hacienda, is a Latino-led organization dedicated to advancing the social and economic mobility of all communities.
Congratulations to Hacienda and project partners City of Lake Oswego, Local Government, Clackamas County, Oregon, Metro, New Narrative, Colas Construction, Colas Development Group, Access Architecture, and Beneficial State Bank.

A state-of-the-art warehouse, pre-fabrication and maintenance area, and offices for an important construction partner.
Hoffman Construction Company, one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest construction companies, hired Mackenzie to design their biggest investment in Portland: Hoffman Yard.
We provided our full suite of professional services to create 60,000 square feet of new space to help them continue to grow their operations in the Pacific Northwest.
🚧 The most recent phase of development includes a brand-new warehouse, pre-fabrication and maintenance area, as well as administrative offices, conference and training rooms, and parking lots to support construction operations for years to come.
🔆 A rooftop solar array provides 100 KVA, generating up to 70% of the building’s power.
🏗️ Our design incorporated vital warehouse and repair tools like overhead cranes to lift and move heavy equipment around the building and an auto lift to elevate medium-duty trucks for repairs and maintenance.

A high-tech addition to the nation’s oldest continuously used ballpark for Oregon State Baseball 🦫⚾
Mackenzie designed a new state-of-the-art hitting facility at Goss Stadium on Oregon State University's main campus in Corvallis, Oregon. This significant addition to the stadium's facilities provides Go Beavs with important space to enhance training for rising student-athletes at this storied, three-time Collegiate World Series champion program.
Drivers of our design include:
🏋️: The hitting facility adds four batting cages, a weight training room, general storage, and customized spaces for advanced player development technology.
⌛: The ballpark is located within the City of Corvallis Historic Preservation district. Therefore, the hitting facility addition was required to meet Historic Preservation Planning and Commission guidelines.
👁️: The facility's design integrates a brand-new batter’s eye wall that meets NCAA requirements
