HAPPY MIDTERMS WEEK!
Our MAPS mentors have spent the past 5 weeks in the classroom with their buddies, and can't wait to spend the rest of the term learning and growing with them!

Late post, but College Day at Alder Elementary was a success! Thank you to our volunteers, who did a wonderful job in the kindergarten classrooms!

The MAPS team is back with 6 brand new mentors, and our new team lead, Coco! We had our orientation today at Alder and it was awesome! We can't wait to be back in the classrooms! 😌

Hi everyone! Please welcome our new Graduate Intern, Madeline! We're so excited to have her on the MAPS team this year!

Madeline Schnipper is the Mentoring and Service Graduate Intern in the Student Community Engagement Center and coordinates the MAPS mentoring program, Portland State of Mind Day of Service and Serve Your City Days. She is passionate about improving educational opportunities for adult learners, which is why she is pursuing her Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy, specializing in Adult Education Training and Development. She received her Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science from San Jose State University. Madeline was the Assistant Registrar at a business college in California prior to moving to Portland. She has also worked as a Programming Assistant in residence life and has years of experience mentoring first-generation college students through the application process. Her hobbies include baking, hiking, bouldering, and volunteering at the Humane Society.
Team Lead Mary here! Your MAPS team is hard at work prepping for the new year with Alder students. We're so excited to be back this Fall, working with the third graders!
