Beyond honored to share that I've been named Composer of the Year by Oregon Music Teachers Association (OMTA) & Iowa Music Teachers Association (IMTA).
These awards come with commissions for new music that will be premiered at the state conferences next month.
The Oregon Commission, "Love in a Time of Climate Change" sets poetry by Craig Santos Perez This song cycle drops listeners into the discordant experiences that regularly occur as we navigate our modern world, striving to maintain hope and take meaningful action while witnessing an unprecedented global emergency of our own making. Lindsey Rae Johnson & Dianne Davies will premiere the work on June 28 in Florence, OR.
The Iowa Commission, "Nautilus," is a piano solo inspired by this living fossil's biology, behavior, and ecosystem. Jason Sifford will premiere the piece on June 8 in Davenport, IA.
I'm so grateful to be chosen for these awards and looking forward to sharing this music with you all in June!
