Journey to Influence

I'm Sarah. I'm on a journey to help busy people increase INTENTIONALITY with their money, time, and talent.

Either at home, personally or at work with their business to live the life they're called to lead!

Busy feels good. It feels responsible. It feels like progress. You’re doing some things, damnit!

But it’s not always productive.

📱 Answering emails or texts all day? Busy.
🚙 Running errands? Busy.
💻 Tweaking a website or content endlessly? Still busy.

But none of those guarantee forward movement, but we often ‘think’ that they are forward moving.

A helpful way to think about it: Movement vs Momentum

Movement is activity.
Momentum is results.

A lot of time gets spent in movement because it’s comfortable. It’s familiar. It’s easier to check off. I know that you know what I mean. I am guilty of this too, crossing things off the list feels good - but truly, I should have less on the list, because they should be bigger, momentum-moving items.

Momentum usually requires more intention. Sometimes even a little discomfort, and often more time.

Not everything deserves equal time, even if it feels urgent at the moment.

One of the most practical ways to evaluate time comes from the book, Buy Back Your Time by Dan Martell. It was my favorite read of 2023.

The concept is called the buy back rate.
The idea is simple: assign a dollar value to time based on your current income or income goals.

Here’s the basic formula:
Annual income goal divided by 2,000 hours; that’s assuming 40 hours of work per week, for 50 weeks of the year. If you don’t work 40 hours a week, or take more than 2 weeks off, adjust accordingly.

For example: $100,000 per year divided by 2,000 hours equals $50 per hour.

That number becomes a reference point. Spending time on tasks worth less than that rate starts to look different through that lens.

Things like:
- admin work
- over-editing
- doing everything manually
- managing every detail personally

These don’t just take time, they limit the ability to focus on higher-value work. The pushback that often comes up is around affordability. “I can’t afford to outsource right now.”

That may be true in some cases, but the bigger shift is thinking differently about time first. The awareness comes before the change. AND if you can start moving more of your activity into the high value, high outcome work and simply spend less time on the other tasks - you’ll make more…and perhaps afford to be able to hire out sooner than you think.

Not sure if you’re ready to hire? DM me the word HIRE and I’ll send you a free guide to help walk you through that discernment.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mamas! Especially this group of Moms that spent their weekend getting dirty and giving back.

A few of us got to spend our time with some of our kids too. ♥️

Until next time Tijuana!

It was a full day today! We raised walls and moved dirt. Byeloth documented the day well. We are sore and tired with full hearts. ♥️

Day 2 in Tijuana: carried approximately 47 million buckets of dirt, discovered muscles I didn’t know existed, and now my arms are so sore I may never eat tacos normally again. 🌮💪

Worth every sweaty second though. Getting to work alongside such an incredibly sweet family as they help build their future home has been the best reminder that community, hard work, and a lot of dirt can create something really special. ❤️

Travel day complete! Planes, trains, and a few Ubers later we all made it to Tijuana.

We’re looking forward to digging into the work tomorrow.

Tijuana Takeover! 🇲🇽
Our mission to help others be intentional with their time, talent and money takes on a different light as Sarah leads a service trip to Tijuana Thursday - Sunday.

I’m relinquishing the socials to volunteers on our trip to capture photos and share their stories as our crew of 25 helps build a home; using our few talents, dollars and hours on our journey to influence.

Follow along! ♥️

If you followed my stories last week you know about the bees, and my freak out turned no big deal transition.

Long story short for the rest of you…

I caught these bees in the act of moving their hive; scouting a new spot in my backyard and moving themselves in. At first glance I thought it was a plague straight from Egypt via Moses with the sheer number of bees swarming in the yard.

I called my husband to ask what to do. I kept the kids inside and alerted the neighbor. Then I watched.

Within minutes - maybe even less than I can count on my fingers 90% of them were huddled together protecting their queen.

It wasn’t a plague or a backyard take over but rather, just moving day.

Google told me to stand down. My friends with bee knowledge confirmed and recommended a swarm removal hotline.

No biggie.

How quickly I went from an oh 💩 plague level alert to 🤷‍♀️ the beekeeper will be here tomorrow.

We do that don’t we? Catastrophize without getting all the info. Or sometimes gathering up too much info without a professional opinion. WebMD anyone? Or maybe you crowd source a thought before really spending time reflecting on it individually. The mental energy that we waste could be saved to battle another day.

What’s the difference between plague and casual bee swarm hotline?

I think it’s a pause. Maybe a prayer too. It’s a deep breath before your mind jumps the gun off to the races.

Practicing my pauses this week.
