i am loved
this is a drawing of me by monica. she says it’s not her best one. she drew it in a book my mom gave me. the book is called the creative act and one of the first things i did when i received the book was to glue one of monica’s other drawings to the front cover, and then eventually i just ripped the cover off so i could display it. maybe i’ll share that drawing too if she’s ok with it, but i left it at our studio. it’s a good book. this drawing, is inside the book, in a very light color of crayon, and hard to see. i scanned it, put it into photoshop, erased most of the words, increased the contrast, and reversed it, emailed the file to our local copy shop, and the store clerk helped me choose the blue paper to print it on when i got there. i am considering making a zine with this image as the back cover. the background orange paper was a loose sheet leftover from a group art therapy class i was in, and the yellow and white pattern behind that is a woven placemat monica found. i listened to music while i took this picture and wrote this, rosalía, yama warashi, and kikagaku moyo. i did all that using a phone. the book she drew this in is by rick rubin. my mom’s name is lisa. my name is souther. the creative act is always a collaboration :)
