Training, snow play, and bacon dinners on Mt. Hood.
Buddha and his sister Winnifred took full advantage of spring snow and cold, clear meltwater rivers—charging through the forest like it was their job.

Buddha is navigating cancer with the same heart he’s always had—steady, strong, and full of grit. So we’re playing hard while we can. Every adventure is a gift, and every day like this is a win.

Dogs. Snow. Mountains. And bacon. That’s the kind of training we believe in.

Happy National Cat Day! Buddha may be a dog with a few extra challenges right now, but he’s taking the title of ‘King of Cuddles’ in stride. He sends his feline friends a little extra love (and maybe a hint of rivalry) from his ‘chemo chair.’ Here’s to all the animals bringing us strength and snuggles! 🐾 ”

🐾 Meet Buddha, the heart and soul of our Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) team. Over the past five years, this gentle giant has brought resilience, comfort, and calm to hundreds of first responders, standing by their side as they train mindfulness skills to navigate occupational stress and enhance humanity and performance.

Recently, our Buddha was diagnosed with canine lymphoma. He is now embarking on a healing journey with the skillful care of Dr. Randy Larrison and the team at Cornell Road Veterinary Clinic, who are guiding him through the University of Wisconsin-Madison chemotherapy protocol. 🐶💙

Buddha continues to teach us all about courage, compassion and resilience in the face of challenges. We are grateful for the skilled care and support surrounding him and for the community that keeps him in their thoughts. Follow along as we share updates on Buddha’s journey—he has touched so many lives, and now it’s our turn to support him. 🐾💪✨
