LGBTQ+ People Are Not Going Back - December 3 Action. Message to Democrats: Trans rights are not negotiable.

We need to show Democrats that they can’t afford to disenfranchise LGBTQ+ folks and our allies. We are a major Democratic voting block, and they need to listen to us.

Fans of And The Next Thing You Know, this call to action was initiated by friend and guest of the podcast, author and trans feminist activist Julia Serano. Julia's post covers the background, the action plan, and some responses to inevitable pushback on tactics.

TOMORROW, TUESDAY DECEMBER 3: Take action!

- Use the shared title "LGBTQ+ People Are Not Going Back"
- Include the hashtag [ ]
- Write your personal message about protecting trans rights and publish it to your platforms and social channels. Blog, video, podcast, article, web landing page, email blitz, whatever form works for you.
- Implore your readers to contact their U.S. Congress Member and Senators and tell them:
- 1) You will not tolerate any backpedaling on LGBTQ+ rights whatsoever, and
- 2) If they fail to strongly stand up against the attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, then you will take your vote elsewhere next election.

We will leverage the 8% LGBTQ+ voting block that voted 86% for Harris (along with a huge number of allies) to make Democrats understand we are a constituency they cannot ignore.

Hello there. If you're a longtime listener to And The Next Thing You Know, or if you've discovered it recently and have checked out the archive, you might have heard the episode "There's Blood In My Stool" from 2019. It was a conversation I had with my niece Jenessa Schwartz about living with a stage 4 terminal colon cancer diagnosis. Jenessa died on November 1, after living with, thriving with, and aggressively treating her cancer for seven years.

As our family and Jenessa's dear friends begin to grapple with our huge loss of this beautiful person we love, I've reflected on this conversation, and I wanted to make sure that my podcast audience, and Jenessa's community, were aware of the episode, in case you hadn't heard it before, or in case you'd like to listen again. I've recorded an updated introduction to the episode.

We talked in detail about the early days of her diagnosis, many of the intense treatments she endured, and the effects of surgery and chemo on her spirits. We also talked about what it was like to discuss her cancer with her kids, and how she embraced a new relationship amid this major transition in her life. I hope you enjoy spending some time with Jenessa in this way. I'm so grateful for this intimate conversation we had.
