Sculptured
This is the Official page for Sculptured. By 1996, Anderson was tracking his own compositions.
The 25-year history of Sculptured’s visionary approach to progressive heaviness is the story of guitarist/vocalist Don Anderson’s lifelong musical odyssey. Sculptured formed in the mid ’90s during Anderson’s teen years, and the project showcases the blossoming talents, deepening experience and changing disposition of the man at the center of the work. Early Sculptured songs took their inspiration

If you read Metal Maniacs back in 1996 you might have seen the first promo pic of Sculptured ever published. I was so excited when this happened. It blew my mind to see myself in MM. This magazine was so incredibly critical to my metal education while living in a small town pre-Internet. RIP Katherine Ludwig and Metal Maniacs.

Thank you Decibel Magazine and Forrest Pitts again for this engaging conversation. Here is the second part of our interview that began with a focus on Webern's Symphony and gradually expanded into other areas. In other news, we are completing the demos for the next Sculptured album with new drummer Hunter Ginn from tech metal gods Canvas Solaris. Thanks!

We’re excited to welcome new drummer Hunter Ginn to Sculptured! Hunter Ginn is best known as one of the founding members of Georgia’s Canvas Solaris, who began as an experimental death metal band and evolved into a technical, cosmic instrumental, progressive outfit. They have released 6 full-length albums, a Coroner tribute 7” with Pharaoh, and is currently at work on a new EP. They are signed with Divebomb Records.
Hunter is also well-known for the Radical Research podcast where he discusses the experimental edges of rock and metal music with his cohost the noted music writer, Jeff Wagner.
The fifth Sculptured album is already well into the demo stage. The new material returns to some of the dissonance and experiments of Embodiment, while also reminding us of material from Apollo Ends and The Liminal Phase. Perhaps it’s the album that should sit between Apollo Ends and Embodiment.
Thank you for your support and for listening!

Check out our bassist Jason Walton's Snares of Sixes project. It's premiering over Decibel Magazine alongside an interview. Although Jason is best known for his work with the metal bands Agalloch, Sculptured, and Khorada, his most longstanding work has been in the genres of ambient/noise/electronics. Snares continues to be some of his best work. I also do some guitar on it as well.

I've received reports that the beer/album release event in Chicago went very well! I wish I could have attended, but traveling with an unvaccinated toddler at home just isn't in the cards. However, I must send endless thanks to the following individuals who helped make this event happen: Austin & Nathan at HammerHeart Brewing Company who brewed the beer and delivered it; Scott at Rebel Radio Chicago; Samu for hooking us up with the venue and making other arrangements; the folks at Metropolitan Brewing in Chicago; my team at BMG Leo Lavoro and Jonathan Bova. And of course everyone who attended, bought the LP and/or the beer! Cheers to you all and it means a lot to me that such a celebration occurred.
