One of the few nice things about living somewhere as cloudful as Portland in the winter is that you really come to appreciate the sun when she pokes her coy little head out to play 🌞

Here are a few more photos from forever ago in the bay (some have boats in them, but that’s all that I’ll say as to not spoil the surprise).

Sarah rolls a flash-bang into the bedroom. Bang. Discombobulated. In a daze, I feel a pillowcase thrown over my head, and before I know it I’m ankle deep in snow. “Where am I?” No answer. She hands me a loose handful of peanuts and a half-cup of water. She starts walking and hand-signs ‘move out’ (since when did she know ASL?). Lucky for her, ‘twas a pretty little hike. Not pictured: me carrying the dogs for most of it.

Sarah stumbles on a crack in the pavement while walking around San Francisco. “Curious,” she says, observing the disturbance more closely (since when did she have a magnifying glass?). Plucking a rusty trowel, pail, and excavation brush from her napsack, she sets to work scooping and sweeping away the dry earth. First a round dome emerges from the ground, then an intricate series of columns, and finally a small lake surrounding it all with a man calmly feeding ducks & geese. He nods to us contentedly. “I think I’ll call it,” Sarah says, observing her discovery with a satisfied wipe of her brow, “The Palace of Fine Arts.” And that’s how it got its name.

Had a lovely time getting snowed-in at with some of the crew this past weekend. Cue up the soundtrack to The Shining and flip gleefully through these photos. ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY. Anyway, happy to report no redrum this time, though several folks were lost forever in the massive hedge maze - they really ought to do something about that tantalizing shrub puzzle.

We got a new Cieri droppin February 2022 - this baby’s gonna really knock your socks off. Can’t wait to share more about this dope lass soon, fingers crossed she comes out being radical right away (like she can kick flip day 1). Stay tuned. 👀🛹🤙

One day it would be pretty cool if a movie that I directed was advertised in huge red letters on the Presido Theater marquee. I freaking love a good marquee. Well, until then, here’s a photo of the theater itself and some more details of San Francisco to boot (get it?) 🌁

Saw this small friend driving around town the other day. I knocked on his window and asked him how he can drive without being able to touch the pedals, and he replied: “don’t be so constrained by the limits of your small imagination.” I was moved by his words and watched him drive off, blasting through several stop signs and red lights on his way. Wise fella indeed.

These abandoned greenhouses were giving me some serious “Burning” vibes - y’all ever see that movie? It combines two of my favorite things: Murikami and Korean cinema. I thought it was very good and definitely worth a watch - also is in it and he’s unimpeachable. Anyway, don’t burn these greenhouses down… this caption has gotten away from me

Did you know there’s technically a difference between a wharf and a pier? A wharf, despite being way more fun to say, is a structure built along a shoreline - while a pier, the inferior word in terms of mouth-feel, sticks out into the sea perpendicular to the shoreline. Now, I don’t want to tell these Capitola-folks their business, but this wharf suuuure looks pier-y to this land lubber 🤷‍♂️

Portrait of a 🐐. What interesting little creatures. These goats in particular are a lovely & welcoming crew. Hope everyone is having a delightful national day of capitalistic overconsumption - go find & pet a goat if you can ☺️
