☀️On this solstice we’re celebrating the many years FairyCamp has been held at Leonard Pitt’s enchanted cottage in Berkeley, CA. We’re sharing a photo of political activist Daniel Ellsberg, who passed last week, with his wife at a gathering at the cottage. We’re blessed to circle together on such sacred grounds and thank our elders for all they’ve given.🧚🏻‍♀️

Blessed Imbolc! Today marks the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. The ancient Celtic festival for this sacred time is customarily celebrated on February 1. In Ireland, the festival is dedicated to the Celtic Fire Goddess Brigid, who represents the light and life-force needed that will bring Northern people from the dark season of Winter into Spring. Brigid is believed to be a member of the Túatha de Danann, the legendary gods and goddesses of Ireland who went underground and became known as fairies. There are many crafts that honor Brigid. FairyCampers learned how to make Brigid dolls from counselor Nicole Margiosso after she’d returned from living in Kildare, Ireland, studying Brigid’s ancient mythology and contemporary cultural influence.

Upon that night, when fairies light
On Cassilis Downans dance,
Or owre the lays, in splendid blaze,
On sprightly coursers prance;
Or for Colean the route is ta'en,
Beneath the moon's pale beams;
There, up the cove, to stray and rove,
Among the rocks and streams
