So, I just finished THE biggest painting project I have ever done! I was commissioned last summer by my lovely friend to paint this beautiful chest she wanted to have in her living room.
The design was created in Photoshop, and then traced onto each panel by hand using a ball burnisher. This project took well over 60 (delightful, blissful, relaxing) hours - tracing the top panel alone took almost 4 hours. I listened to SO many podcasts and finished at least 4 audiobooks.
I am SO proud of this piece! Taking pictures of this was actually the hardest part π (That, and blurring out my disaster of a craft room!) There's also a couple in-progress shots in there for fun!
It's still weird not having it in my workspace, but I'm glad it's happily in its new home!
There's also a 360 video I'll try to post in the comments so you can see the full view :)

"I am, I am I said I'm not myself
But I'm not dead, and I'm not for sale"
- "Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart" by Stone Temple Pilots
I'm so excited to get to share this piece!! I started it probably back in 2018? The file for it disappeared, and no matter how hard I looked for it, it was nowhere to be found. Recently, I found a folder hidden somewhere on one of my old laptops and there it was!
I really loved the lettering I did for this one, and I've had some time to play with the flowers since then. I guess between my 10 years in Las Vegas and my love for Baz Luhrmann, I can't get away from the Neon/Floral combo. Also, that ampersand is just.. π
Anyway, I'm mostly just jazzed this finally gets to see the light of day!

I just realized I never shared these sweet little door signs I made for the lovely kiddos of my friend ! (These were made for them as a Christmas gift so I was waiting until they had them first π ). I loved using day-glow colors for this, and the photos don't even really capture how bright they really came out. We added little goats to each of them in loving memory of their late goat friend, Ebb. It was fun to channel my inner Lisa Frank with a dash of My Little Pony, and a little Laurel Burch. I even got some glitter in there for good measure! β¨ Still a 90's kid at heart! π

It's been a minute since I've just sat and doodled again. I was making a sign for the front door, and was using a book on illuminated manuscripts as a board, and found myself inspired. I started doodling this to keep my hands busy while watching Shrinking on Apple+ (which is hilarious, by the way, and I absolutely recommend it!). Someday I would love to make a real, full size version of something like this. The line is the first line of The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle (one of my very favorite books in existence! ππ¦). I think I feel more artistically inclined lately than I have since pre-Covid. I've felt really lost and very much unlike myself. Perhaps, like the unicorn, I needed to be something else for a while to escape something, and can finally be myself again after all? We'll see!

Celtic Inspired Mailbox
Medium: Wood with latex and acrylic paints, Gold by (aka, my favorite Gold paint β¨)
I made this mailbox as a commission for a friend. They wanted it to say "CΓ©ad MΓle FΓ‘ilte" which means "One hundred thousand welcomes" in Irish Gaelic. The lettering was custom drawn and hand painted. The mailbox itself was hand built by myself and last year. I'm excited to have finished this project, and I think it came out pretty neat!

Finally... F I N A L L Y finished and delivered this sign to my lovely friends Ken & Julie (affectionately, my Fairy GoatParents). They commissioned this from me back in 2021 and I had hoped for it to be a housewarming gift for their new home. Non-design work life got the better of me, plus a little bit of being creatively stuck about it for over a year. Sometimes it just.. doesn't come to you until it does. (And it doesn't come easy when you're in a global pandemic and dealing with all sorts of unexpected things). But I finally got the time and creative spark back to finish it up, and I had the pleasure of delivering it to their home yesterday! I still have 3 commissions on my desk from last year that I'm slowly making progress on. It's something!

I love this market sign I got to make earlier this year for on Instagram! The process for this was so interesting for me because it was kind of perfect for the project. Bel came to me with this idea for a sign that was kind of organic, and based around some natural shapes of radiolaria organisms. They gave me a color scheme from a really gorgeous piece of petrified Palm root. The lettering design was a combination of some of the shapes of microorganisms and kind of sword-like angles and lines for metalsmithing. We kept the colors mostly neutral, with the tiniest hint of a custom metallic brush on the edges. This piece is also on reclaimed material! I love the designs they make, and was thrilled to have this opportunity to collaborate on this design for them! They have some markets coming up soon, so definitely go check them out!

I kept wanting to post about this, but didn't love the pictures I had, but I finally decided that was fine for now π

Super jazzed about this lettering I got to paint onto the door of True North Studios π₯° This is one of the spaces in Portland I hold very dear to my heart! I am really glad to have been able to see it continue to thrive throughout everything that's happened recently, and to have had some great opportunities to share with them and be a part of what they're doing! Thanks, friends!! π₯°
