Through our cast of characters we like to examine unsolved mysteries, social boundaries, and other themes that we fancy. Reeves) views art as evidence of the soul and artists as shamans of the modern day. Inspired by the unknown, V2R2 contrasts modern and ancient, organic and industrial, figurative and abstract, frustration and celebration in her work. Both sensuous representation and eruptions of
the abstract fill V2R2’s compositions to varying degrees. danma (aka: Daniel Ma) received his MFA (Masters of Fine Art) from the University of Illinois in 2006. danma is an accomplished interdisciplinary artist ranging from painting, photography, sculpture, video, to installations. danma’s work derives a lot from growing up in two different cultures at the same time. danma is a first generation Chinese-American who grew up all over the United States. This hybridity is often evident in his work as he likes to mix and (con)fuse cultures; not necessarily for political discourse, but for the pure enjoyment of its outcome whether a meaning is distinctively clear, implied, or not. It isn’t necessary for the work to convey a message; however the meaning between danma and his work is always personal. danma makes up one half of the artist collaborative team “danma VS. V2R2.”
