Come on out Sunday, the 12th at for our next Bug Trivia Night! Test your knowledge, learn cool bug facts, and win some prizes. Featuring a mix of question and a new themed second round! Live bugs on display. $5-$10 sliding scale entry fee per person. Bring your team, or make new friends and join others! We highly encourage bug outfits or costumes!

July calendar! A heads up that if you would like access to our calendar and event tickets before everyone else, sign up for our mailing list (link in bio). This gives you the first chance to sign up for events and classes that are often fully booked by the time we get to posting on instagram.

We will be at the Hollywood library on the 11th from 3-4pm, FREE!

There is NO drink and draw this month but we will be doing another trivia night at on the 12th.

We are pinning butterflies on the 19th. As usual we have two tarantula handling sessions and two bug walks. And on the 26th we will be exploring tiny bugs and pond water samples in our microscope workshop.

A reminder that our space is very small and very busy so booking tickets for general admission is highly advised! Thank you everyone for your support!

Come make bug prints with us! We will have guest teacher Ash Earls showing how to cut your own linoleum blocks and make prints with them. Use our live bug zoo and pinned specimens as reference! We’ve got two events coming up this Sunday!

There are only two spots left in our mantis terrarium workshop. If you want a pet mantis and everything you need to take care of them, now is your chance. We have baby Giant Asian Mantises (only available through the workshop).

It’s going to be hot outside this weekend but we will be at Peninsula Park looking for bugs from 2-3pm. We will show you how to find, catch, and identify our local arthropods.

Tomorrow all day during general admission come see the Insect Safari! Meet and talk with entomologist Don Ehlen about his amazing collection of pinned insects.

Due to the size of the collection, we do not have space for our regular activity area and touchable bugs so these will not be available.

Do you want to learn pinning techniques but don’t want to spend a lot of money or potentially break a fancy specimen? Take our discounted pinning class! We will be using darkling beetles raised here at the insectarium. We did not purchase these and so are able to offer a cheaper class. You will get two specimens so you are able to practice on one first. Tickets at www.pdxinsectarium.org
