Special thanks to Portland Radio Project for having The Parnells on the air this evening to play some tunes and talk all things Easyfolk Fest!
Sounds of PDX this week features a deep dive into Easyfolk Fest with founder Joe Sanchez and evening two performers The Parnells.
Easyfolk was born out of the desire for the acoustic music community of Portland to come together and support one another. Easyfolk Media supports independent musicians in the Portland area by crafting live-music videos, creating community-building moments, and producing live performance opportunities.
Easyfolk Fest…well….is the magical culmination of all this. Three nights of local music at Portland Playhouse on August 8, 9 & 10. Get tickets for as little as $20 at easyfolkmedia.com/fest.
Tune in tomorrow at 6pm and learn more about Easyfolk Fest from the man himself, Joe Sanchez, and get a taste of what you’ll hear with the Folk/Americana duo of Whitney and Corey Parnell LIVE in the PRP studio! (we might sneak in a track or two from a couple of the other EFF performers as well 😉)
Sounds of PDX - Friday at 6pm - 99.1FM & PRP.FM
Sage Christie // Performing Friday Aug 9th
The mountain-stream clarity of Sage Christie's lilting voice is equal parts ballast and bird song - steady and soaring, grounding and impossibly light. The modern folk storyteller paints lush, layered narratives, rich with Janis Ian's legacy of cultural honesty and swooning cozily close to Alison Krauss' lullaby tone. A two-time finalist in the renowned Kerrville New Folk songwriting competition, Sage's songwriting has also gathered awards from the Great River Folk Festival, Portland's Folk Fest, and the Walnut Valley Festival, along with nation-wide radio play and folk community acclaim. But where Sage's swift pen could humble, it consistently, stubbornly lifts, inviting listeners into a carefully curated space that is undeniably safe, generously candid, and open-heartedly their own.
