Hello and welcome this precious, October 17, 2022. I hope this day finds you all healthy and well.
Before I expand on the upcoming Meditation Retreat, I feel obliged to let you all know that one thing I discovered upon returning from the Camino de Santiago was that I need to spend more time actively engaging in my own practice and less time writing about it.
I also want you all to know that I aspire to start writing again one of these days. For now, however, I want to go deeper into my own personal Mindfulness practice. I recently signed up for a second, year-long intensive mindfulness course to get started. Why just put your toe in the water when you can jump in?
Now on to the Meditation Retreat.
Before I left for Spain in April, I mentioned on a few occasions to be watching for retreats upon my return. I didn’t realize it was going to be six months (I didn’t know I was going to be relocating to Portland either). But alas, here we are!
While investigating potential venues, I was delighted to discover that the Trappist Abbey in Carlton, OR, where I have done previous retreats, recently started taking reservations.
On December 3rd, 2022, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, let’s give ourselves permission to take a break and to nourish ourselves through meditation, sharing food, nature, and community.
Though I like to follow my intuition that arises from the group, you can expect time for silence, guidance through relaxing body scans, single point meditations, and contemplative meditations designed to give rise to compassion and loving kindness.
There will be ample free time where you can journal or spend some time exploring the beautiful trail system winding through the Trappist Abbey Forest, or just sitting and being.
We will also share a potluck meal together. In addition to bringing a dish, please bring your own plate, bowl, cutlery, coffee/tea mug and water bottle to help keep this environmentally friendly. Coffee and tea will be provided.
Meditation cushions, benches, and chairs are available but please feel free to bring your own.
I am holding space for 25 participants and am offering this by donation. You may choose to make your donation prior to the event on my website at www.turningleaffoundation.com or you can make your donation at the venue.
To reserve your space, please call, text, or email me or make a donation on the previously mentioned website. [email protected] 970.209.6489
Regardless of how you register, please make sure that I have personally responded to you to ensure that I received your request. I anticipate that this will fill quickly.
Please note: Our generous Trappists have requested that all participants be fully vaccinated.
I look forward to sitting with you soon.
With Heartfelt Joy,
Dan

Hey there my friends, I hope this day finds you all happy and healthy!
Just a little life event update:
This weekend my sweetie and I are moving to Portland! Imagine that, a small town boy like me living in the city!
I'll deeply miss my Corvallis friends and the surrounding area - this place has been a welcoming home for the last 6 years! Though Covid already cancelled much of it, I'll certainly miss my Corvallis in person recovery, meditation, and mindfulness groups. That said, if any of you would like to help me put together a weekend retreat or workshop, I'm totally up for making the trip down!!! 😉
For anyone interested, I'm still offering mindfulness based coaching online!
I haven't decided fo sho yet, but the Corvallis school bus company I work for asked me to transfer to their sister location in Portland. Unfortunately, it only comes with a $13.19 an HOUR raise! 🤪 I had other employment ideas, so we'll see what happens there!
Wishing you all the very best. With Love and Appreciation
