Here's the real cost...
Talented doulas leave the profession.
Birth workers are burnt out.
Community leaders forced to choose between impact and income.
And the cycle starts all over again because the doula industry has gotten really good at selling training.
Not nearly as good at helping doulas build sustainable careers.
For Black and Brown birth workers, the stakes are even higher.
Many of us enter this work because we care deeply about health disparities in our communities, birth equity, and communal care.
Real talk - passion is not a business plan and purpose shouldn't require poverty.
That's one of the reasons we created a program that focuses on both training AND business support.
Not to mention why we are so strategic in how our trainings are offered. 👀
We want you to enter birth work supported so you can STAY in birth work - despite the doula industrial complex.
If you want to experience a training that takes a different approach, RSVP to join us at our upcoming Open House to learn more!

If you’re entering a room with a head full of assumptions and a folder full of certifications, you’re missing the point.
And the statistics prove that we need more from a training than checking the requirement box.
That certificate does not dismantle the systems that cause harm.
It doesn't teach you how to check your bias.
It definitely doesn't prepare you to be corrected by the very families you serve.
Our latest blog post written by our very own Community Doula Manager, Jasmine Scott, is a powerful discussion that expands beyond the 3 things listed in this carousel.
Make sure you check it out (link in bio) and save this post because birth work is internal work 💜

Honoring the Service of Women of Color This Memorial Day 🎖️
As of 2024, women only make up about 18% of the military active duty representation and, of that - women of color make up nearly half of the entire female force.
Their dedication, leadership, and sacrifice are vital pillars of our armed forces. Here's to the profound contributions of the diverse women who step up to serve our nation - we salute you 🫡
Rest is an act of resistance 💜 Here's how ↴
- You are allowed to set boundaries,
- Give yourself permission to ask for help without the guilt,
- Go take a nap!
May is Maternal Mental Health Month, and you deserve to let go of that strong superhero trope and embrace your well-being.
Because when 40% of Black and Latina birthing people experience perinatal mental health symptoms - nearly twice the rate of all birthing people - and up to half never receive any support or treatment, we need to normalize that mental health IS part of our overall health.
Just because we are strong doesn't mean we have to carry it all 24/7.
Your strength was never meant to cost you your softness.
And always remember - you are worthy of deep rest 🙏🏽
