I've somehow managed to set up TWO Alison Blue FB pages . . . I hope one of me isn't the "evil twin" beset with angst and jealousy who'll manipulate everyone in the room to think me guilty of terrible things! Or abduct me, switch places, and take over my life and none the wiser!
I've read about such things. heh heh

As the Danish poet Inger Christensen wonderfully observed: “Everything that a writer writes could just as easily have been different – but not until it’s been written. As a life could have been different, but not until it’s been lived.”
I often hear people claim that they read only non-fiction, implying that there’s not much point in reading fiction because it’s just made up, and yet, it’s in the fictional world where we more readily realize our nuanced differences, the subtle emotional interchange between characters, and finally, between the reader and his or her understanding of that mercurial being we think of as “self.”

FILM TALK …. OSCARS NIGHT IS COMING. I watched Elvis 2022 last night … some movies it helps to know what to expect … in a way it reminds me of those times when I’ve expected a drama but was shown a musical. I would’ve liked to have known that I was going to the circus.
The characters are not given time to develop. Way too much “telling” and not enough ”showing.” Also, the script does what so many “life story” films do, it assumes we all know who the characters are in the film … that we will see into the portal and be transfixed.
The narrator? It blocked my ability to settle into the movie. It was hard to spend so much time with such a despicable character. And I don’t know if Tom should have attempted an accent. But maybe that was the point since his character was a total poser who was perhaps disguising his non-southern-ness. But it’s like listening to a choir sing out of tune and you begin to wonder if they are all tone deaf, after awhile. I do not think the accent was a good choice.
I did not care for the editing, for the most part, but I think they were going for disruption and chaos. Overwhelm. I’d like to watch it again, now that I know it’s full of narration. Narration often feels like there’s someone (and in this case, someone I don’t much like) talking while I’m trying to watch the movie. Sorry, but it’s a C- from me. But, like a book or two I’ve read, maybe it will improve with the second watch.

I love the Fletcher books. I give them to kids and grown-ups alike!
I know it should be Fletcher and the Springtime Blossom season, but couldn't resist a snowy Fletcher and the Snowflake Christmas photo this morning - happy springtime snow day everyone! ❄️🦊❄️ Graffeg Tiphanie Beeke Illustration
