THIS 💕 Posted • Our culture is constantly feeding us negative ideas about children. When they are infants, we see them as blessings, gifts. We are quick to gush over newborn babies and how “innocent” and “sweet” they are. Oh, but wait just a few months and the message begins to change. Right about the time they learn to walk and talk, the warnings start to come. “He’s walking? You’re in trouble now.” “Just wait, the terrible twos are coming.” “Terrible twos? Ha! Threenagers are way worse.” “Oh yeah, just wait until he’s a teen!”
We are constantly told about how they will manipulate us, test our authority, push our buttons, and see what they can get away with. With the dire warnings come loads of advice telling us the best way to control our little tyrants—so they don’t control us.
These toxic cultural messages poison our minds and negatively affect the way we see and therefore relate to our children. The clamor of the world drowns out the whispers of our hearts, and we end up viewing them not so much as our gifts anymore but as mischief to be managed.
In our earnest efforts to train them in appropriate behavior, we end up reducing children to little more than that, as though their behavior at any given moment is what defines them—good, bad, or some- thing in between.
When we reduce them to the behavior they currently display, we miss out on seeing their beauty, their light, and ultimately their potential.

In order to see real change in our society we have to start from the very beginning...
We need equity from the beginning...
We need equity for our youngest children.
The wealthiest members of our society clamor to find the best preschool for their children. And the difference between their preschools and our preschools, most importantly, is the fundamental attitude they have towards the children. It is the attitude of deep respect; deep respect for who the child is right now, not who the child will be someday.
Our children spending their days in an environment where their thoughts, feeling, opinions, and work is taken very seriously, will teach them how valuable they are. When you understand from those around, that you are important, you will internalize your own value. You will value yourself.
This is the most profound asset any human being can have. From this your resilience, your personal power, your compassion for others, will all spring. This is what we need for ALL of our children and this is what Reverence for Childhood is all about.

My name is Ruth Flores and I am the Founding Directo of Reverence for Childhood. It is being created to give the highest calibre Preschool to all of our country's children no matter what there families income.
The emotional well-being of our youngest citizens is my passion, and this is a social equity organization.
Once completed we will be able provide materials and support to every preschool in the country! I have been doing the research and and the foundational for this for the last 2 years. Reverence for Childhood is at its inception.
We are raising funds today to finish our studio building and garden where all the materials will be created!
We will be providing all of the following when we launch!:
* video workshops in the classroom methodology based in a "deep respect for the child"
and drawing from Waldorf and Reggio-Emilia educational approaches.
* ongoing, art-based, natural science based, music and movement based, video lesson plans incorporating principles of deep respect and fostering communication and collaboration skills
*video training in Puppet-based Conflict Resolution and Restorative Justice - complete with copies of the puppets for the classroom
Right now we are working to finish our studio building where we will create all the materials, and host area preschoolers at our Children's Experience Garden in Front!
