Ever Struggle To Meditate?
Meditation is one of the most researched practices for improving our overall well being. Regular meditation has been shown to reduce stress, improve focus, strengthen emotional resilience, increase self awareness, improve sleep, and support greater calm, clarity, and healthy decision making.
And yet, for many people, meditation can feel frustrating.
Have you ever tried to meditate, only to end up sitting there with your eyes closed, thinking about your to do list, replaying an annoying conversation from yesterday, or wondering if you’re doing it right?
The truth is, meditation doesn’t have to feel that way.
This Thursday, in our Embody the Practice session, I’ll guide you through an experience that allows you to enter a deep meditative state in a way that is more focused, natural, and easy than most people realize is possible.
This isn’t about trying harder to quiet your mind. It’s about learning a process that naturally helps your mind and body enter a deeper state of awareness and stillness.
More importantly, you’ll leave with practical tools you can continue using on your own, allowing meditation to become something that feels supportive rather than difficult.
One of the greatest gifts of meditation isn’t simply feeling peaceful while you’re sitting with your eyes closed. It’s what begins to happen throughout the rest of your life.
You become less reactive and more responsive. You recover more quickly from stress. Your mind becomes steadier, your emotions become easier to navigate, and you naturally bring more presence into your relationships, your work, and your daily life.
Meditation isn’t an escape from life. It’s a way of training yourself to meet life with greater awareness, strength, and freedom.

There comes a point in every man’s life where he has to stop trying to prove himself.
I see this all the time with the men I work with. They’re capable, intelligent, and deeply committed. They’re fathers, business owners, leaders, coaches, and professionals. From the outside, they’re doing well. But underneath it all is this quiet pressure to get it right, to not fail, to earn respect, to prove they’re enough.
The problem is, when you’re trying to prove yourself, your attention isn’t fully on the people you’re leading. Part of your energy is still wrapped up in protecting yourself.
Something shifts when you no longer feel like you have something to prove.
You stop asking, “Am I doing a good enough job?”
You start asking, “How can I best serve the people in front of me?”
That one shift changes everything.
You communicate more clearly because you’re not afraid of being misunderstood. You make better decisions because fear isn’t clouding your judgment. You become more present because your attention is no longer consumed by protecting your identity.
Ironically, this is often the moment you become the leader you were trying so hard to become in the first place.
The goal isn’t to become someone impressive.
The goal is to become someone who is deeply present, grounded, and committed to serving something greater than yourself.
That’s where real confidence comes from.
Want to experience this shift of confidence within yourself?

Jiu Jitsu is not just a physical practice.
It’s a practice that trains your mind and helps you develop greater self awareness.
How are you moving? How are you solving problems? What’s your reaction in a challenging moment when you’re not sure what to do? Are you breathing? Are you moving with fluidity, or are you becoming tense and forcing things?
Yes, there’s the physical conditioning, becoming familiar with the movements, drilling techniques, and developing skill.
But there’s another aspect that’s just as important. Noticing that the way you move on the mats is a reflection of the way you move through life.
So when you train, and you’re drilling and grappling with another person, bring awareness to your breath and what’s happening internally.
Another piece of the practice is communication. You and your training partner may not fully be on the same page about how intensely you want to train or how you want to work together.
That gives you an opportunity to practice communication, both verbal and nonverbal.
Ultimately, Jiu Jitsu is not just something you do for a few hours each week. Jiu Jitsu is happening all the time. It’s a way of living.
It’s a way of moving through life.
The more you become conscious of this the more your Jiu Jitsu will improve, and the more your life will improve.
Have a blessed day.

“In shallow men, the fish of little thoughts cause much commotion. In oceanic minds, the whales of inspiration make hardly a ruffle.”
, Sri Yukteswar, from Autobiography of a Yogi
This quote is powerful to me because I know intimately what it’s like to have the fish of little thoughts cause much commotion in my mind. And I’ve also experienced deeply what it means to have a spacious and steady mind, where the whales of inspiration make hardly a ruffle.
I imagine you’ve probably experienced both ends of that spectrum as well.
To me, this quote speaks directly to the core of what our spiritual practices and personal disciplines are meant to support us in experiencing. They help us cultivate an ever increasing capacity for a steady, strong, humble, open, spacious, and adaptable state of mind.
Every practice, from yoga, to jiu jitsu, to leading a team, to public speaking, to building a business, is ultimately meant to bring us to greater steadiness and strength within. And that inner steadiness naturally translates into steadiness and strength in every area of our lives.
So what’s happening in your mind right now?
Are the fish of little thoughts causing much commotion?
Or do you feel a steady sense of serenity, presence, and strength within, where you’re able to focus on what truly matters and what life is asking of you right here, right now?
When I work with my clients, this is one of the primary things I help them cultivate.
Most negative habits, destructive patterns, and addictions are fueled by the fish of little thoughts. They’re fueled by a mind that has been rocked by trauma, difficult experiences, old conditioning, and a lack of discipline.
Discipline, a willingness to stay open, and a commitment to positive practices gradually transform the mind. You find the lessons, you become steady, and the whales of inspiration begin to move through you.
If you’d like to expand your capacity, deepen your focus, and strengthen your presence, I can help you with that.

The five most challenging and rewarding things a human being can experience are opening a business, becoming a parent, getting married, owning a home, and going after your dreams.
All five will push you to your edge. They’ll bring up your deepest fears and doubts, while also developing your wisdom, strength, resilience, and capacity. And if you’re like many people, you’re doing several of them at once, which can literally be crazy making some days.
Ultimately, it’s all about number five, going after your dreams. If you ask me, there’s nothing else worth dedicating your life to.
What do you truly want? What would bring fulfillment, wholeness, and passion to your life? Does it feel daunting? Do you wonder how it could ever be possible?
That’s part of the journey.
Strength, courage, resilience, and consistency all matter. But one quality I think is often overlooked is creativity.
When you reach the edge of your understanding and don’t know what to do next, get creative. Ask yourself, What have I not thought of yet? Who can help me see what I can’t currently see? Those questions expand your capacity, and that’s how you continue moving forward.
Every meaningful dream is a long term investment. Building a business, raising children, cultivating a great marriage, caring for a home, and becoming who you’re capable of becoming all require patience, adaptability, and years of steady effort.
The things most worth living for require you to play the long game.
Let these experiences shape you. Learn when to push, when to allow, when to affirm, and when to surrender. The more you tune in, the more you’ll realize all of it is happening all the time.
That’s where the dance is.
That’s where the flow is.
That’s where harmony is.
That’s where coherence is.
You’ve got this.

Solstice Session🔥
In many traditions, the solstice represents a time of light, vitality, growth, and fully stepping into your potential. While summer is often a season of relaxation, adventure, and time with family and friends, it is also a powerful time to harness your energy, clarify your direction, and bring greater intention to the life you are creating.
On Thursday, June 25th at 10:00 AM Pacific, I’ll be facilitating a special 90-minute Embody the Practice group session inspired by the energy of the Summer Solstice.
Together we’ll explore how to awaken the fire within, clear away self doubt, limiting patterns, and the internal obstacles that keep you stuck.
I’ll guide you through a deep meditation and transformational process designed to help you reconnect with your inner clarity, inspiration, and life force.
The goal is not simply to feel motivated for a day. The goal is to help you cultivate the focus, discipline, presence, and alignment that allows you to enjoy life more fully while moving forward with greater purpose.
Just as the sun reaches its peak during the solstice, this is an opportunity to strengthen the spark within yourself and turn it into a steady fire that brings warmth, energy, creativity, and positive impact to every area of your life.
If you’re curious about meditation, personal growth, and practical ways to create meaningful change, I’d love to have you join us.

One Month Disciplines 🔥
When I was in my early 20s, I started experimenting with what I called one month disciplines.
The goal was to see how different things and habits were affecting my life.
One of the first things I noticed was that if there was ever any downtime in my day, I turned on the TV.
A few minutes of free time? TV.
Feeling bored? TV.
Feeling uncomfortable? TV.
I realized I was actually terrified to just sit quietly by myself for five minutes.
So I gave myself a challenge.
One month with no TV.
Not forever. Just one month.
At the same time I added in new practices.
I started reading every day and began doing a daily meditation.
By the end of the month I felt so much better that I never went back to watching TV.
Then I tried one month without alcohol.
One month turned into a year.
Then I experimented with one month without dairy.
It felt like a fog lifted off me.
My energy improved, my mind felt clearer, and I realized I had an intolerance to dairy.
I did this experiment with other foods as well which helped me find the diet and eating habits that were right for me.
What I learned is that sometimes we don’t know how much something is affecting us until we remove it for long enough to experience life without it.
But here’s the important part.
Don’t just take something away.
Replace it with something intentional.
If you remove social media, add reading books.
If you remove alcohol, add exercise.
If you remove television, add meditation, reading, or time in nature.
The goal is to create space for something better.
So, what’s one thing you know is not serving you?
And what’s one positive practice you could commit to for the next 30 days?
You don’t have to commit forever.
Just one month.
Run the experiment.
See what happens.
And then make a new choice from there.
For the month of June I’m giving myself the discipline of doing at least one Turkish Get Up every day on each side with a 32kg Kettlebell.
Simply following the question, what happens when I do that?
It’s not meant to be easy.
Choose something that part of you is afraid to do.
Then stick to it.
This in itself provides so much growth.
