Polish community in Portland, in comparison with Chicago or New York is relatively small and best estimates account for no more than three thousand people. Join us this Sunday to celebrate our annual (early) Mothers and Fathers Day. May 3rd is also the day Poland celebrates its constitution, the first constitution in Europe, and the second in the world after the US constitution.

The events starts at 12:30 PM. Please join us we will have performances by the students of the Polish School, a live performance by our own band DeMolKa, and some sweets.

There will also be a grill organized by the Polish Library Building Association. Please join us, admission and food is free.

🇵🇱🤝🇺🇸 W marcu obchodzimy urodziny Kazimierza Pułaskiego – bohatera obu narodów!

📅 6 marca 1745 roku w Warszawie urodził się Kazimierz Pułaski – polski patriota, żołnierz i symbol walki o wolność.

⚔️ 🐎 Już jako młody dowódca wsławił się w czasie konfederacji barskiej, broniąc niepodległości Rzeczypospolitej. Po jej upadku nie zaprzestał walki – jego droga zaprowadziła go do Ameryki 🇺🇸, gdzie w czasie wojny o niepodległość stał się jednym z najwybitniejszych dowódców kawalerii. Dzięki swojemu talentowi i odwadze zreorganizował amerykańską jazdę, zyskując miano „Ojca Amerykańskiej Kawalerii”. Zginął w 1779 r. w wyniku ran odniesionych w bitwie pod Savannah, oddając życie za wolność, pochowany z pełnymi honorami w nieznanym miejscu…

🇵🇱🤝🇺🇸 Pułaski po dziś dzień jest 7. najbardziej znaczącą postacią historyczną w USA, posiada mnóstwo dedykowanych mu miejsc pamięci: nazw miast, ulic, oraz ponad 50 pomników, czy mostów w całym kraju pozostając symbolem odwagi, poświęcenia i braterstwa polsko-amerykańskiego – człowiekiem, który walczył „za naszą i waszą wolność”.

🇵🇱🤝🇺🇸 Casimir Pulaski – born in March and Hero of Both Nations!

📅 On March 6, 1745, in Warsaw, Casimir Pulaski was born – a Polish patriot, soldier, and enduring symbol of liberty.

⚔️ 🐎 He first gained recognition as a commander in the Bar Confederation, defending Poland’s independence. After its fall, he continued his fight abroad, traveling to America 🇺🇸 to support the cause of freedom. During the American Revolutionary War, he distinguished himself as a brilliant cavalry leader. Widely credited with saving George Washington's life at the Battle of Brandywine on September 11, 1777, Pulaski earned the title “Father of the American Cavalry.” Mortally wounded during the Siege of Savannah in 1779, he gave his life for the cause of independence, was buried with full honors at an unknown location…

🇵🇱🤝🇺🇸 Today, Pulaski remains the 7th most celebrated historical person in the USA with towns, streets, and over 50 statues, monuments and bridges all across the country - a powerful symbol of courage, sacrifice, and the lasting friendship between Poland and the United States.
