Hour Exchange Portland

Hour Exchange Portland

Share

A community service exchange of neighbors helping neighbors where everyone's time is equal. The concept is simple.

You help a neighbor in need and earn one Service Hour for every hour offered. In exchange, you can spend your Hours on any of the hundreds of different services that members offer each other. Exchanging Services is about local individuals, organizations and businesses helping each other meet their needs cash free in one-to–one exchanges or in group projects. Members help rebuild and sustain neighborhood networks and strengthen community as a result of their activities.

A small group of hOurExchange members enjoyed pizza and very lively conversation at the Immigrant Welcome Center Wednesday night, November 8. After sampling a variety of pizzas, the one with butternut squash, ricotta and cranberries was determined the fave. Our meal was topped off with dilly beans, purple grapes, and homemade chocolate cake. One topic of discussion was how to recruit younger members, and Katie Delcourt had some great ideas which will be passed on to the Board.
Danielle King, Director of Finance, Operations, and HR for the IWC, stopped in to tell us about the organization’s impressive programs, all designed to give New Mainers a good start: ESOL classes (including a very busy language lab), community engagement, information on food sources and nutrition, career development, and much more! www.welcomeimmigrant.org
The next hOurExchange get-together is a Coffee Meet & Greet, planned for Saturday, January 13th, 2024, at 10 AM, location to be announced. Please plan to come!
