"In The New Normal"

In the new normal
Trying to find a way
Chaos and commotion
It seems every day

Looking for a balance
Seems to be depleted
Trying to win a fight
Already been defeated

Drifting in and out
Feeling up and down
Need a rubber room
Medication and a gown

Hoping to find a place
Not sure that it exists
To make up all the things
All that I have missed

A constant adjustment
It's a rollercoaster ride
In the new normal
I've already died.

All that matters.

"Just Think For A Moment"

Just think for a moment
For someone other than you
Put yourself in their place
For just a minute or two

Reflect for a second
With empathy in mind
Relate if you can
Try to be kind

What if that person was you
Somehow being mistreated
Never in any way feeling welcome
Not at all feeling needed

Feeling obvious and alone
A sore thumb sticking out
Confidence torn away
Experienced with doubt

Expert in rejection
No matter the crowd
Forget the accomplishments
Forget being proud

It should be surreal
Then again it may not
Just think for a moment
That's all I've got.

What does love mean to you
Does it even really exist
Are there certain qualifications
Instructions or a list

Should it be reciprocated
Acknowledged in some way
Screamed from the rooftop
Vocalized every day

Kept on the down low
Without any recognition
Not a sign or a signal
Without hint or suspicion

Lost before it's found
Without a chance to grow
All on its own
No place to go

Is it somehow controllable
Can you turn it off and on
What does love mean to you
Blink and it's gone.

My last will and testament
From these words of which I text
So unsure of my future
Not sure what happens next

Now awaiting a diagnoses
Of which I have no control
I can feel it in my gut
A signal from my soul

Not afraid of my passing
It's what we all do
It's just the in between
That catches up to you

The immortality of my youth
Eventually met its match
The black sheep to my family
The judgements they attach

No regrets or resentments
Although much is left unsaid
My last will and testament
Soon I'll be dead.

The chaos of the past
The unnecessary pains

Patience and consideration
